(wip) Twist of the Moon
« on: August 10, 2008, 01:28:55 pm »

You're an orphan wolf; your parents died when you were only adolescent. Your mother would tell you stories about a treasure that would only appear when the moon became blood red, and one day you uncover an odd marking in a tree, that was the exact same one your mother would draw in the dirt while telling the story. So you must travel to an unknown land, and learn skills to uncover the treasure you've heard of as a pup.

Welcome to the Twist of the Moon!

In the game, you start out as a basic red wolf. But you can change your color and markings using special gems that you can dig up in special areas. But be careful! You need to claim a territory first! If you dig in another territory, you'll have to battle the alpha of the pack you intruded! Hunt or steal food to survive, claim your own territory and get a den of your own. You can kill then loot other animals for scarlet leaves (money) and other collectables. Or just settle down and join an already made pack.

Here is a screenie of the basic wolf.

Is this going to result in a movie or a game?

I am guessing a game, and if so, what game engine are you using?

@almost cool: It will be 3rd person only unfortunately. And thanks for your opinion. (It's ok. I dont mind skater talk :P)

@wiipowner: I am close to finishing up the demo, as soon as I get some more characters worked up.

In other news; I have a screenie of a wolf in the "Mountain Ash Coat"

Plus a little more abot the game. :)

You will be able to find/buy coats for your wolf, which will act as armour in a typical rpg. The more unusual the color, the more powerful it is. (For example, a blue coat is more powerful than the default brown coat)

Those are amazing models. Could you show us a wireframe?

Also, are the textures scratch made, or copied from photos?

The first one in particular looks amazing. There's something just a little off about the second one: I think the colours look a bit too washed out (especially compared to the black facial features).

@Dosser: Here is a wireframe.

The textures were made from scratch by Kephart, who helped me out because I had trouble with the UV mapping in anim8or. And I think what makes it look off is that I had to invert the grey coat to make that coat, also affecting the eyes.

@3D Joe: It was inspired by bloodmoon and wolfquest. But it will be...different.

Good music it will do well at adding an atmosphere to your project a thing that many homemade games or animations lack.
