Texture help?
« on: August 24, 2008, 03:03:08 pm »

Ok, this is the plan:
i use this wallpaper from warhammer online...

and i want to make it into 3D.
Result so far:

I can simply use the texture from the original wallpaper for the front ofcourse but my problem is the side of the shield, back of hammerhead and the back of the shield and the hafts of both weapons. So i am looking for help to make a texture that fits between the 2 hafts that are not covered by the shield. so i must create something that looks good between the beginning and ending of the weapon that is visible..

As you see i managed to look the haft of the axe pretty fine.. it looks like 1 axe. not 3 parts.
The hammer on the other hand, there is a big difference between the head, the bottom part of the haft and the middle part. So i would like to create a texture that i can put on the middle part so the bottom and head texture smoothly go over into eachother and it looks like a hammer in 1 piece..

The back of the shield should also look different... however only the center part.
also the back on the back of the hammerhead the texture looks (and is) stretched and I would like something nicer...

Sorry for big pictures :D

Programs i have on my computer right now to make the texture (you may always suggest freeware)
PAINT  :D
+ alot from adobe: photoshop CS2, illustratorCS2, and other adobe CS2 things.

Probably any (metal) texture will do. Look at texture sites (cgtextures.com) for metal textures and tweak them in photoshop to fit the image. Even better would be unwrapping the UV-map of your map and texture it in a paint program. This will give better results then just pasting the image on top of it like you did now.
