Rotation Help
« on: September 12, 2008, 04:30:42 pm »

My 8 year old has made a simple space station and now would like to make it rotate around it's centre.
He's also going to add some little flying saucers buzzing around and make the camera move about a bit. (I can help him with that bit).
But I don't know how to make the object spin on it's centre, any help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks

you just have to rotate it around the y-axis, that's all.  keep x and z orientations at 0, and change y.  i think someone's written an ASL script to make a scene element rotate continuously, or you could just enter orientation keyframes manually.  i'm not 100% sure, but i think if you put 0 for y-axis orientation in one keyframe, 120 in the next, and -120 in the third, then repeat that pattern, you should get a smooth rotation around the vertical centre of the station.

hope that works... :)
