I have had another go at the lizard for the newb project. Have a look and tell me what you think.
I've still got a bit of work to do on it yet..

I need help with: I have subdivided it by mistake before I could join the 2 halves, am I able to un-subdivide it?
and, what is the best way to texture it?

Thanks

Yes, you can un-subdivide, as long as it's a subdivision object.  To do this, double click the object, set 'working' to 0, then convert the object to mesh!

How exactly did you make that lizard?
Well FOXY, I took note when you asked how I made the fly, so I have been taking screen shots at each stage of the modeling.
Unfortunately, I didn't like the legs at a late stage and found it too complicated doing the lizard as a whole, so I halved it and made some new legs that I was happy with.

A quick note# I started with a single cube mesh and just kept extruding/manipulating faces.
I will re-do the model when I've finished it, to make a tut.

Thanks for the feedback guys

That's a bit better  :)

The green isn't the final colour as I'm still trying to texture it. Not quite mastered the art of texturing yet  :P

i once used photoshop to make a realy cool scale texture i could post it if you want i will edit it a bit to make it more "lizardy".
also i am having trouble with bump and trans maps when i go to the special texture thing inside the material editor and select the file for in the bumpmap/transmap sections after i apply the material it does nothing. i have tried the UV tool, different trans and bump maps, different models but i cant figure out what is wrong. please help me.

My guess is that you don't have shaders turned on.  To do this, go "view>preferences>use shaders"
As, when you can't view the bumpmaps/transmaps in the working view, you should be able to render the image and come up with something proper.

I have tried 3 different 3D unwrapping programmes and still have no idea how to unwrap my lizard to make it flat so I can texture it.
I have tried lots of different tutorials and searched endlessly and it's driving me nuts  :P, could someone please help me out?

Thanks

B3dman:  If the box is unselectable, that basically means that your computer does not have enough graphics capabilities to use the OpenGL shaders.  The only way to fix this would be to get a better graphics card that supports OpenGL or a better computer.  Sorry.
