Lighting and a whole lot of effects

Is there any cool effects to make in anim8or

Like a fire, or a blizzard effect?

not built in.  anything is feasible with enough determination and a clever enough workaround, and i think you can do effects like the ones you mentioned using terranim8or, or possibly with ASL scripting, or by simple trial-and-error experimentation, but there isn't a button in anim8or which will produce a one-click blizzard, i'm afraid.

maybe check back in 2059, when steve's had another half-century's worth of spare evenings to build the program up to that level... or more productively: experiment with the program, and maybe try out some of the supporting utility apps, and see what you can achieve  ;D

*cough* Competetive software *cough*
Yeah, what you said is probably ok, but I don't like the way you dismiss anim8or as not able to create cool effects, try not to be so blunt next time.

Those guys don't know what they're talking about.  You can create all kinds of great effects inside Anim8or.  For starters go get Terranim8or at http://www.biederman.net/leslie/terranim8or/terranim8or.htm

Try not to be too defensive, guys.  A good practitioner has MANY tools in his toolbox to access, each suited to a different purpose, regardless of what field you consider.

I agree with RudySchneider; lets not start the whole blender vs anim8or thing on the forum.......

Though I agree an artist doesnt stick to one tool, we don't need to talk about spraypaint in a paintbrush society ;)

well, this forum helped ME alot, i just downloaded terranim8or and a few plug-ins for it.

on a side note, and to the chagrin of the guys who don't want the blender/anim8or argument, while blender might be able to do better effects, anim8or is MUCH easier to use. I couldn't figure out how to do ANYTHING with blender, but I'm already making effects for a video here? yeah, kudos to anim8or. Bringing 3-D animation to those of us who are semi-computer iliterate!
