Anim8or Crash
« on: February 08, 2009, 01:45:23 pm »

Hello!  :D
I'm working on a little optical illusion clip for Valentine's day next weekend... I have everything modeled, textured, and animated in scene mode... But when I go to render anim8or crashes...

I'm scan-lining the animation renders because ART Ray Tracer makes my animation too dark...
Also, I'm running Windows XP.

Any idea what is wrong?

EDIT: Here are the pictures I could render from the animation-
(Here is just one of the models I'm using)

(Here is a render from the scene before it crashes)

Could you post the file, then we could check if crashes on other computers too. So if the problem is the files or your computer.

Nothing seems wrong to it. I tried rendering it with scanline and ART and it worked fine, no crashed. Maybe add the textures to (make a zip file of it would be the best), and then i will try again.

Textures attached ^^' I'm thinking that maybe the textures are too big or something?... But idk, my computer isn't the best.

Well yet again no errors here. I think it's your computer then. I rendered the file for you, if that helps...
Render 1 is scanline and 2 is ART (which is indeed pretty dark).

Are shadows on that sphere? Maybe that's why ART's so dark.

yes that's right. All objects in ART cast shadows by default so the sphere makes the scene so darker. You can fix this by removing the frond of the sphere (the part that isn;t showing on the render).

Well thanks ^^' I guess I just need a better comp then... For now, lets see if it will let me render individual frames without trouble ^^'

The reason it's so dark using ART is that the tranparent spheres cast shadows.  ART can't handle shadow rays through transparent surfaces.
