Size-Responsive Anim8or Icon!
« on: May 16, 2026, 08:23:19 pm »

Since I've upgraded my system recently (and made the switch to Linux), I realized that as much as I love the classic Anim8or icon, its small resolution was beginning to bother me the bigger my monitors got. So... I put my graphic design skills to work and made some larger and one smaller sized versions of the Anim8or icon, staying as faithful as possible to the original!

The original logo is 32x32px. I made:
16x16 - So there is a dedicated corner icon
64x64 - for 1080p monitors
128x128 - for up to 4K

On Linux it's easy to set a launcher icon to whatever you want. On Windows, unless you know how to dig into the exe file and change the icon, the easiest way is to have a shortcut to Anim8or on the desktop and give it a custom icon. The .ico file is attached in the Zip as well as a preview.

Yes! I've tried it on Mint, Debian XFCE, and Debian KDE Plasma. It works nearly flawlessly with both Wine and Bottles. It will probably work with the Steam thing too but I prefer the old fashioned way.

The ONLY problem I've run into is that Wine has its own shortcut for Alt+Scroll which override's Anim8or's zoom-in while using the legacy arc rotate tool. I just have to learn how to change the hotkey settings in Wine, that's no fault of Anim8or.

But yes, I've ditched Windows 11 wherever possible. I still have to use it for work so I dual-boot, but when I'm off the clock, it's Linux now.
