Hi,

IŽll will be model an animal and work over houres and all is good, but all at once the object is mulish.

I can not select one edge or one face.
I can select an area of edges and faces and I can select one point and an area of points.

Whats happend? For hours all the functions going right and now something is out of order, but what and why?

I have exported the model as an object and imported it in a new file and there all functions going right? I am perplex.

Have anybody an answer?

considering you described your problem as only being able to select a field of points/faces and not individual ones, perhaps you have the drag select tool ()selected, and not the basic select tool(). the select tool is used to select individual things, and the drag select tool selects a filed of them.

Yes, I know what the various buttons denote. I used it successful over hours, then suddenly not more.  If I press the basic select tool, the button change the colour to white (like your picture) how he do all the time before, but if I want to select one face or one edge, nothing happends, nothing react.
 In the point mode the basic selection tool and the drag selection tool are working right.

few hours later: I find it out

I had forgotten the tail of the animal, so I created an extra mesh and "build group".
After I "ungroup" the meshes, all functions going right again.
