new body
« on: April 30, 2009, 11:20:19 pm »

this is my 2nd attempt at making a body. the 1st 1 was all hulked out and was made to be a fantasy type body. I learned alot doing it though. This time around im making it more realistic and more detailed. I havent worked on the detail part yet but im getting the basic shape for it.
and here it is.

Your doing pretty well on your second attempt, I'd just suggest that you don't stop the edge looping at the bottom of the chest, but instead have them loop all the way around the pectorals while keeping in mind the shoulder blades above.
I'm assuming from the rest of the loops, you going to have defined abdominal muscles, not just the stomach part but the whole muscles system?

BTW: You play Starcraft, nice!

Yeah i think ur right. I was going 2 see if i could fit the shoulder and armpit in there 1st then worry about the loops. Im gonna try and make the ribcage and everything. thanks for ur crits and i havent played starcraft in a long time. (im still kickin ass though)

Edit: I worked on it for a lil while and got the abs almost done. Once the ribcage is in i think it will stand out alot better.

Edit2: worked on it a bit more and im trying 2 fit in a ribcage. its not done yet i gotta round out the middle and have it less defined in the front. let me know what u think.

heres a side view of it

Edit: I worked on this for little while 2day. Im stuck on the ribcage. Im gonna widen it as soon as i figure out how. Ill just keep picking at it i think im on the right track so far but i might have to redo the ribcage once i finish it. heres where im at now

You might want to rework the area between the pectorals and frontal abdominal muscles, because there shouldn't be that area of clumped up skin, you should also re-work the abdominal muscles so their sides go upwards like in the picture, I'm assuming your going for a anatomically correct character, if not you can ignore my comments.

Well yes, that's what I meant, there are some articles on Wikipedia as well as other sites on the human body that may be able to help you in creating realistic muscles, they just tell you how muscles are shaped and direction etc
Getting it correct now will really help you further down the track, regardless whether you keep working on this project or something else.

Edir: I just got my new head file. that still needs alot of work as well as the body but i think im gonna put that head on this body. this is almost what it will sorta look like. i didnt attach any points i kinda overlapped them 2 see where im at.

Personally I would do without the ribs.  Currently they're not very smooth, and on a man with that much muscle, I would not expect to see his individual ribs anyways.  Perhaps a vague outline of the ribcage in general, but not individual ribs.  Currently it makes him look old.
As for the head, it is still extremely flat on the top of the head.  I would advise rounding that out.

Yea ur defenitly right about the head. its still a work in progress as well. its been a few weeks since i was able 2 to touch it. Ill be working on both the body and the head seperatly. youre right about the ribs too. but hes a character for a story im working on. and hes going to be malnourished because of the plot and settings. so i may or maynot have the ribs sticking out that far. i still havent tweaked the model yet. i can see alot of flaws too. but my problem is that i take to much time on certain things. (and im usually playing online poker when i make my models.) but i think the greatest thing about 3d modeling and animation is you only have to make the model once. so u can spend alot of time on the model untill its perfect. then do whatever u want with it. but thanks for the crits guys. theyre helping alot. i know i still got a long way to go but keep helping me out. i need it.
