Anim8or's progress

I think it would be a good idea to release anim8or to the open-source community so it can be built into something great in a shorter amount of time

IMO Anim8or's already great!  Anim8or is Steve's project, and as such he has been able to control all aspects of the application.  Keeping it this way ensures the highest possible level of quality, bug-free-ness and hacker-free-ness.  We don't need another Blender, one is enough methinks, and what's your rush?  All good things take time!

He's already said he want's to do this alone.
The only chance we have of this becoming open source is if he quits and releases it.

If you want to get involved with anim8or, then I suggest you go down the ASL route and create some plugins/ scripts to release to the anim8or community.

EnsonIQ5 has a very valid point  with blender.

Anim8or is the best program i have found for 3D modeling on a computer! What are you talking about! Plus like everyone else said HE WANTS TO DO IT BY HIMSELF! I think he is very talented and i wish i could make a program like this. I may be a noob but i just signed up yesterday and i used this program for about 7 months so far altogether. I just dont really understand how this whole thing works. So in my opinion I have no idea what's wrong with this program. It is with out a doubt the greatest FREE 3d animation program that i have ever come across.  :D

PS. Anim8or....keep up the great work!  ;D

I can certainly understand the desire to go it alone.  Anim8or has a nice design flow to it and above all else new additions need to be tailored to the general feel of the program or yes you'll end up with another Blender.

That being said, there are always support tasks that can be outsourced.  Testing and documenting come quickly to mind.  I'm not sure if it's ever been explicitly mentioned on the forums but I'm sure that there are a number of us here who'd be willing to pitch in if it would be helpful.  It really depends on which tasks Steve likes or dislikes to do himself.
