Quick question on Anim8or Reply ASAP please
« on: August 01, 2009, 01:55:50 am »

I'm making the REAL comparison of Anim8or and Blender for youtube because of the idiot who gave Anim8or a bad name for a dumb video. So i have a few questions.

Anim8or
rendering: real or fake
modeling: what type is it?
anything special Anim8or can do?
anything im missing please let me know.

All answers will be appreciated.

Do not bother yourself buddy.  You can give a befitting reply to any critics through your work.

So, work hard and create something to silence the said "idiot."

Anim8or has a scanline render and a new raytracer that can create things such as glass or mirrors or metal effects etc.
The modeling can range from box modeling too point-by-point to edge extrude, whatever you wish, as well as subdivision modeling.
Anim8or has a very intuitive simple interface, the tools are easy to use.  It has a very useful new scripting language.

i think you should experiment with both programs and show your own feelings on them. that would be less biased because you are not basing your work on what others say but instead on what you have seen yourself. but feel free to do what you will ;)

Maybe you should watch the reply on that video (which was called anim8or vs. blender...right?):

It shows that it's not about the program but about the artist working with the program. I worked with anim8or, 3ds max and maya and they all have there strong points and weak points.

Seems to me the biggest thing with blender is its mastery of fluid and soft objects, right? I have yet to see anything that compares using anim8or.

If only we had some sort of cloning machine... maybe that should be our next venture as a community, maybe then we could combine the efforts of several Steve Glanvilles, to create a Glanville software factory, Muahahaha!!

Maybe not... :P

Current version of blender; 2.49
Current version of anim8or; 0.95

Anim8or is at version 0.97...altrough that still a beta...

The version number doesn't say anything, since you can give it any number you want.
If you add a minor change to your program you can already name it version 2. Another minor > version 3.
so 2.49 and 0.97 aren't relative to eachother.

This is all about peoples own opinion:
Blender has more features (particles, fluid...) which many people like, but many people find Anim8or much easier to use.

The beauty of anim8or is it's simplicity and intelligent design (thanks Steve).

How many goes have I had  with Blender? (how many fingers do I have?).

As I was driving home from my job as a butcher this afternoon I thought of it this way: You might have two twigs and a bit of kindling in one hand and and a stick of AKY dynoblast in the other - but you can start a forest fire with both :)

To mix metaphors:  its not the hammer but the carpenter ...

Hmmm, I think a lot of you are missing something here, you have ASL scripting so in some ways you can add to the features of Anim8or much in the same way as open source blender. We already have a wealth of scripts that have been added and enhanced Anim8or I can named "Booleans" as one thanks to Kubajzz ( I hope I spelt it right!!) there are other numerous offerings from NickE etc.

Why oh why, does everyone keep whinging on about Blender .....huh, its got particles its got  fluid ....so what,  get on with what you have and stop moaning on, if you don`t like how anim8or is progressing then use something else there is plenty of other 3d software apart from anim8or and Blender.

There I`ve had my say.
