First Significant Anim8or Movie Project
« on: August 14, 2009, 12:29:19 pm »

So I've been put about three or four solid months of work into this movie project. Its about an alien race that comes to attack the earth (original I know, but I like sci-fi  :) ). When I'm done with the whole thing I'll post a video link for you guys to see.

Here are some shots from the animations and some test renders. Feel free to comment  ;)

I like your city view, specially the ground grid with the streets. Are you going to use shadows in the final render ?

Your 3rd picture, on the contrary, lacks detail to be in line with the first picture. It's too plain and basic. I would suggest to either add more detail in the landscape or show more landscape and make your spaceship bigger.

Thanks wiipowner I'm looking forward to the final product too ;)

@ Lynn22: I was going to use shadows in the final animation but with my computer this would take way
too long. As for the third picture I'm definitely going to take your advice. I feel it needs for
                  detail too.

I love numero 1 + 2, the city must've taken ages to make, never can bring myself to properly texture buildings in a city, and that missile is awesomely realistic!

Similar crit to Lynn, the alien probe ship(?) looks a bit too... unrealistic compared to the others, and the main alien ship is a bit too low poly aswell.

Can't wait to see this finished, looks great so far.

Thank you very much. Yeah much of this is still a WIP so I'll see what I can do to make it more realistic

nice work bobert

good to spend time on a project

with the landscape if you work on the textures and bake a shadow map on it it could work

bake a shadow map?

light the landscape

make a big render from above with shadows and no texture

photoshop it with a slight blur, then add it to your texture map (multiply?)

then you will ave a few shdows when you make your avi with shadows off for the terrain
