Thank you, I'll remember that
I compared the corrupted file with your "new and improved" version and the deleted lines looked like this : 6 4 0 -1 ( (247 -3) (232 -3) (233 -3) (234 -3) (236 -3) (235 -3) )
and the numbers have a -3 where no other lines have that.
I filled the deleted faces and started again where it last crashed and lo and behold it crashed again and the file could not open. So I went looking for lines with irregular numbers, deleted two and I could open the file again.
Until this building is finished I'll work in my tested fashion again with 2 identical files/ different names and alternate saves.
I'll be glad when this building is finished, apart from the crashes, it has caused me a lot of problems.
For those of you who are interested, the building is part of a project to recreate a very old town as it would have looked in the 18th Century (the 1700s). Ultimately, it will be an animation where the camera is the eyes of a visitor/tourist walking through the town.
I would like to add a few people as well but I haven't figured out yet how to make period clothes in a simple, efficient way.
For a sneak preview, it's here :
http://www.3d-anim8.com/banff/Everything is modeled in Anim8or, including the terrain (point by point - spline by spline) over a map with elevation lines so that when pulling up the elevation sections, the terrain becomes the "real" thing, humps and bumps included
Images are rendered in Vue because of the vegetation that will be added at the end to complete the "look".
