New site+theme?
« on: February 16, 2010, 11:33:31 am »

Hey people,

I think that the anim8or site is getting too old and too outdated. Wouldn't it be a good idea to design a new site and maybe a new theme for anim8or? I don't like the purple theme at the moment. I guess that a new design of the program wouldn't be that much work, if it's designed dynamically. I would like a simple layout that fits with the system you're using.

Also one thing I want to say: I really would like PNG support in anim8or. It's something what I need for a game I'm making so I might look for another modelling program, however I will still use anim8or.

There are a lot of topics concerning this. Basic response: it's not about the look, but what you can do with it.

Steve makes anim8or on his own, so I would rather him to spend the time he can work on anim8or, to spend it on new features or improving anim8or as it is instead of a nice color or cool look.

Use anim8or as a tool to make your own cool designs for other things, don't worry too much about the look of the program.

i like the color. and its because its easy on the eyes.  i dont really think the color should have anythign to do with anything as long as you can see what ur working on and the background isnt distracting or anything.

im not sure y you would need png for a game though. you can render or texture in an alternate program. which im sure every 1 of us use other software to help with our projects. i dont think you should dismiss anim8or all 2gether simply because it doesnt support png format. its a great modeler.

Um, i don't think the layout of the program could really be much simpler. That's one of its 'attractive features'.  ;),

Look past it mate.  :) .If you're not long into 3D modelling and animation, it's a gr8 place to start. Honest. Do the eggplant tutorial.
I'm not tryin to be cheeky here, just wouldn't wan't someone to pass up the opportunity to learn this gr8 software, because of a 'personal taste' in appearance.
Just think of it as 'a Wolf in sheeps clothing'.  ;D
And best wishes to ya. :)

Johnar is very right.  Honestly, Anim8or is probably the simplest best organized 3D software out there.  Once you get to professional level programs there are so many features around that the interface just gets plain complicated.  With Anim8or (and other programs for that matter) it's also very useful to learn the shortcut keys, they can speed things up greatly, and take away from some of the complication.

Really it's just a matter of practice.  Any program will begin seemingly complicated, but after some use you'll understand why things are organized like they are, and how to use them in the quickest and easiest ways.  It's a matter of use and practice.

As for the forum, again practicality is the key.  It may not be the most attractive theme to everyone, but it isn't ugly.  Personally I would rather Steve was working on Anim8or features than pimping out the site.

That's true, but the eye want's something too  ::)

The anim8or interface IS simple, but I don't like it that it's so 'non-default' colours, which is the case in many programs. It was only little question.
