[ COMPLETE ] Challenge #20: Chain reaction
« on: August 01, 2010, 02:30:10 am »

Chain Reaction

Another animation challenge is here! The goal is to create a short animation that shows a chain reaction. One thing leads to another, you know...

Everything must be modeled and rendered in Anim8or, but you can use other software for texturing, post-production etc.

Submit a YouTube or Vimeo video in the best possible quality.

Deadline: 3 weeks (August 21st)

What will be judged: The best video wins, that's it!

Ok... I think I can join this one. I have enough time to think of something and actually do something. XD

Very interesting idea Kubajzz  ;D

There is some limit? How short must be?

I guess since it's a "chain reaction" it doesn't matter how short/long it is. ;)

Quick Question, can we use cre8or for physics, or does then animation need to be done in anim8or as well?

Definitely having a crack at this, despite being flat out with other projects.  Will post early work soon.

I'd say yes in kubajzz's stead.  Cre8or is an anim8or related program and can be a very useful tool, so why  not practice using it!
Have at it

I'm sorry for not replying, I had no internet access in the past several days...

I agree with Hiho, using Cre8or for physics is ok.

I hope to see some entries soon!

I have settled on a sort of Rube Goldberg machine, also featuring dominos in one bit.  Rendering out at the moment, hope it will be completed by the deadline.  I have had to compromise on quality (low res, no AA, hard shadows) to hopefully meet the deadline... I had forgotten how mind-numbingly slow Anim8or's renderers are.  I have two machines working on it, 800 frames each to render, fingers and toes crossed.

I'm just curious, is the deadline of this on a specific time? Or do we just consider the day of August 21 the last day and submit it any time within that day?

I have to admit, I've been bogged down by so much work from school that I barely had time to work on this. >< Oh well, still giving it a shot anyway. Almost done animating this short sequence.
