Ok, not done, but abandoned due to deadline

The quality is sh*t, had to render at lowish res to speed things up.  Please note that the hand seen at the start is not my work, it was severed from a Poser model, and the light stand partially visible near the cannon, although my work, is not original for this challenge and has been seen before.

It's great to see an animation challenge, but 3 weeks really isn't enough to produce quality work of a reasonable length.  Still, thanks for the diversion, it was fun.  Good luck to all entrants (hope there are a few more..!).

Will get an opportunity to watch 2moro when i go down town to post mine.
I'll need to finish my animation now, and just some sound effects to go.
Will post within 24 hours. :)

Woah! Regardless of the quality that is pretty amazing Ensoniq! Mine feels insignificant compared to that. (5 secs-ish) I'll try to get mine up as soon as I finish if I finish before tomorrow ends.

Agreed, absolutely awesome work, Ensoniq5, genuinely outstanding. Loved the ending. Speed it a tiny bit off in places, but given the limitations of a challenge like this, it really is faultless. Reminded me a lot of the 'cog' Honda advert.

 Ok. Heres mine. :D

Could've used a few tweaks, (lots really), but thats it.

ENSONIQ5: That was really cool. I initially thought 'MouseTrap', (if you remember that game), but yours had a lot more to it. Really cool.  Must've taken a while. ;)
I used a figure for my 'dominoes'. You probly did too?.
It may have just been because of the streaming, but some places seemed to run a little slow.?
Anyway, gr8 job. :) I might hav to vote for yours. ;)

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.  Love yours Johnar, genuinely laughed at the end.  Very nice domino effect, great environment, excellent materials usage and love the cartoon style.  I didn't actually use any figures, all the animation was keyframed in scene mode.  I didn't use a physics engine so the physics is a bit off in places (particularly the ball being thrown up and when it falls in the cup).  This is one of the things I would have fixed with more time, I usually like to run a series of short section renders to test the motion but had to fast track the process for this.  At some stage I would like to port this into Carrara for re-texturing and re-rendering, and making use of the physics engine, but it will probably never happen!

PS: I do remember Mouse Trap well, it was big favorite when I was a kid (before video games and home computers!) and probably contributed to my love of complex mechanical devices like steam engines, cars, etc., the magic of cause and effect.

Yeah. Me too actually, (love complex mechanics), as far back as  'Professor Brainstorm' books. lol
( Perpetual motion machines are especially cool to make). ;)
Speaking of rendering out short sections, yeah, i totally agree. Its the thing really.
Defineately a time thing. You did well getting it working though.
 Thanks for the comments ENSONIQ5.
Cheers.

Very nice Johnar. I like the way the dominoes interacted with one another. And the sound effects were solid. XD

Finally finished mine. I hope it's not too late.

I have to admit I reused models for this one. I didn't have time to build / rig / and animate a new set. Rendered without shadows and with scanline to quicken the pace. Interestingly enough I couldn't put shadows with scanline render using .97 Ah well. Feedback is appreciated.

Another brilliant one! Well done Janro, excellent work, really imaginative and very funny (in the slightly wrong way that laughing at people falling over is funny...). You too johnar, though I have to say I felt really really bad for the guy in yours!
It's really great to see so much excellent animation out for this challenge.

johnar : cool cartoon animation and the end is really funny

Janro : a great chain reaction and I particularly like the repeat of it from a different view angle when the credits were shown, nice touch. However, the whole project would much improve with better and more detailed texturing.

ENSONIQ5 : just brilliant, what more can I say other than that the canon (paint) ball hitting the stencil, making it fall over and revealing the credits is a touch of genius !
