Two Spirits: A Found Poem Visualization
« on: January 14, 2011, 05:27:00 pm »

A short video done for a school project. I'm glad to say i can post this under the finished works category. The video and poem were both created by myself, the poem is a found poem, based off page 131 of The Lord of The Flies. The music is Opening- by Linkin Park. Rendering was done with anm8ors ART renderer at 1200x675 without antialiasing and took about 12 hours give or take. the project itself took about 36 hours (not including rendering) spread out over 5 days to go from an idea to the finished product.

Interesting. Has its own strong graphic, tribal art feel. I like how you use negative spaces, contrast and how objects and figures carry words on themselves while moving. Water reflections add quality to the animation. My favourite scenes are the one when trees are appearing and the second scene when warriors look through the fog/glass wall at each other. Good speed animation indeed.

  • Couldn't ever use Blender or Maya. Anim8or's good.

WOW. Just awesome! The graphical style really changes the mood. Is it using alphas or white/black cloured objects?

Thanks for the comments guys.
dwsel: I'm glad to hear that the reflections did add something, i was debating about cutting them near the end because i wasn't sure if i would have enough time to render it with them.
davdud: It's actually a mix between the two, the people are shadeless black and white objects because it was too difficult to do the animation with just silhouettes, and the words were done with the type function, but just about everything else is alphas.
All in all I'm hoping to do something else in this style a little later, might tweak it a bit though. possibly add in just the slightest bit of shading.

Wow, this is very well done! I would say pretty much what davdud and dwsel said.
Good job. :o
