well the 1000 sound effects doesn't come installed with the software. its an extra disk with 1000 audio files

Knew it... Well, my other suggestion (of which I forgot to mention) is TrakAxPC.. I don't have much experience with it, but from what I did gather, it's not bad. Don't know if it does visual effects and stuff.

Another thing you could do (it's kind of stupid and tedious, but I've heard it works and technically is legal) is download a free trial of After Effects, then every 30 days when the trial runs out, uninstall it and reinstall your OS, then reinstall After Effects. Like I said, it's stupid and tedious, but you gotta do what you gotta do. LIKE I SAID (as a message to the mods and people who may think it's wrong), TOTALLY LEGAL, TOTALLY POSSIBLE.

Only thing is that unless you puirchase After Effects, most not-paid-for effects will have a giant red X over the video image. So that's the redemption for not paying the however-many-thousand.

More on point, I've been thinking about PowerDirector 10. Anyone use it? Apparently has some good reviews.

I've tried out Powerdirector, it is easy an intuitive to use, has quite some export features, but lacks a bit in the creative department. As far as I can see there is a limited amount of features to adjust the clips (no real layering+special effects), but it does have multiple tracks to put clips in.

I think it is easy to use for putting together clilps + sound and exporting it, but for green-screen or other special effects I don't thnk it's capable of handling it.

I've used PowerDIrector 10, it's very good, but kinda slow on slower computers. btw, @$imon, PD actually DOES have some special effects capapbilities, but if one wants serious special fx, they should consider something much more serious. Although PD is good for greenscreening, as long as your footage has a nice flatly-coluored background.

Oh well maybe I didn't look long enough, I'm sorry if that is the case.. In my experience it was closer to Windows movie maker than to Adobe Premiere, but maybe that was just a first impression.

It's open-source and seems to have professional grade tools and effects. Does anyone have experience with it? I'll have to check it out more thoroughly later..
