Friendship Express
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:33:51 pm »

I've just completed a work of art with Anim8or after a long break.  It's the train shown in My Little Pony. It's just the engine at the moment because I didn't really feel like making the rest of the cars.  Some parts are subdivided and some aren't.

It didn't take me long to make this, only a few hours since it's made of simple shapes.

Video:

The video is a little bouncy, but it kind of adds to the cartoon aspect of it.

I'd add some more polygons to the wheels, they look jagged in comparison t other parts of the train.
Also, I'm not sure how the roof thins at the peak quite works.
On the other hand, you got a nice soft 'cartoonish' look with lots of detail, so good work there.
Kudos and thanks for sharing.: :)

Very cool model. Did you use mostly material colors? I seem to prefer mat colors over 2d textures which give me headaches trying to get them right. Nice work though.

I love it! At the risk of sounding ... something or another .... it's adorable!

It was all materials with the exception of the windows which were made with Transmaps.  Unfortunately it would be hard to add more polys to it without completely remaking those parts. I may do that later.

It's very well made, Cori, and especially good for using so many primitives. i will admit that some aspects are a bit blocky (like you said, the wheels), but it doesn't detract from the overall product.
