Emotigifs
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:10:32 am »

I've made these little things. Sort've 'emotigif emoticons'
Smile: rolleyes: cool: Wink: LOL: Kiss: BigGrin BigGrinWave Blush:
CoolwithGlint: No: Not Happy: Thumbs Up:

Wikipedia hav nothing for 'emotigif', and search engine results show much larger gif images than these.
Perhaps they are just emoticons, but the difference being that you need to copy and paste the link for these, and not just click on the smiley.

Help yourself if you would like to use these in any forums that you might post in. Although they are small in size, please be aware of any rules concerning bandwidth use in any particular forums. I'm not sure how it would go down with some forum providers if this type of thing was used as frequently as emitcons sometimes are.

I've uploaded a zip file with these gifs in it, with grey backgrounds and others with white backgrounds.
I've got them hosted at 'postimage.org.' and have also supplied the links i'm using currently. But, if you can sometime, please upload the gifs to your own image hoster and use the new links that you get.

I would happily suggest 'postimage.org' as a host.  free, easy and effective

But, anyway, like i said, help yourself,  Spread them around, i'm making more, any suggestions welcome.

The only thing I'd suggest is to make the backgrounds transparent instead of white.
That and possibly make them smaller (<- not 100% sure if that would look better, but if they were the size of the default font it would fit better, would have to see it to be sure if it looks better or not)
However I do like them so far (has your touch to it for sure ;D)
But I dont understand the lol smile, it's just the eyes being rolled, which isn't a lol (laughing out loud).

This is great John, thank you, what software did you use to create the gif animated file, is there any free software that can create this? I would like to have animated avatar in anim8or, twitter and facebook  can anybody advise me?

Hi Steve. So very glad you like them.

Thanks for your interest guys.
I'm updating the first post and the zip file as i go, so they should all be visible there. As far as transparent backgrounds go, i haven't been able to make a decent one yet. After researching a bit i saw a thing explaining how with animated gifs this size it is often easier to just use the background colour. Transparent would be cool tho.
I'm pretty happy with this size. When resizing, i'm just making the shortest edge 25pixels and constrain proportions. The hands will make the image size a little wider, but i'm going to try and keep 25 as the rule. Its a nice size.
IanRoss.  I'm using Image-Ready. As far as a good free program for making animated gifs, i'm not aware of any but there very likely is and hopefully someone will be able to point it out.

   Cheers Blick.

Have added "Blush" to the zip file, and tidied up the links list a bit.
Blush gave me a couple of problems with the colour change, but that was mostly due to the way i set things up in the beginning.

'johnar' you are an Emoti-Master. Nice job, very funny gifs.

'ianross' As far as free gif makers , Gimp does a great job and VirtualDub is fast and easy although
the individual images will have to be created elsewhere.
I have a standalone gif maker but I prefer Gimp because it can do everything.

Nice idea captaindrewi
Had a few goes at it. Not sure if that one is any good. The first one looked really strange coz nothing moved so the glint looked odd. Moved his head and shades a bit too much on the 2nd go, maybe a 'bigger Glint' ?
Animated stuff is sort've cooler, i'll make a 'Smile' that blinks as well.  Cheers.

Thanks CrashDrive, and for the heads-up on the Gimp and Virtuadub.  I was lucky enough to have 'Adobe Image Ready' already installed on this machine when i bought it. Older version but really decent.

Have added 'CoolwithGlint, thumbsup, and No: and 'Not Happy': to the first post, and updated the zip file

Ideas welcome.
