All I really want is a Front Mission game on my I-Phone or a new one for the PC.
Mecharrior online is fun, but ended up being somewhat stale combat in the end. At least the new BattleTech turn based game has some promise.
Yet, of all the "giant robot vehicle" settings, the only one that seems logical is the Heavy Gear setting. Their mechs are not nuclear. They have a weird V-engine on the back that is literally just an alternate configuration of a gasoline piston engine.
The Front mission mechs are nearly identical, other than they don't show how their mechs use a secondary movement system of wheels in the feet. Heavy Gears don't bother, and just show the wheels, or at least the rear ones. They power skate around on smooth surfaces like roads or hard ground, but run and walk everywhere else.
Front Mission mechs just slide across the ground somehow, sparks and all. I'm not a big fan of that.
And I firmly believe that if you are bothering with a giant robot, then it should be on the ground. So, that rules out Gundam, Armored Core, or other mecha shows from Japan that treat them as the ultimate flying machines. There is nothing about a giant robot that makes it better at flying than a purpose built fighter.
