piecing together Animations.
« on: May 15, 2008, 11:25:58 am »

I was just wondering what programs people use to piece together their anims, and add sounds. I have been using windows movie maker but you can only add one sound, I need to be able to add multiple sounds and slow down or speed up parts of the anims..

I use Ulead VideoStudio which has 2 time lines for adding sound but I prefer to compile all my sound files and music into one file which I do with MixPad from NCH Software.

MixPad might be a solution for your one sound file, it let's you add the various sound/music files of a project on a timeline and then save the combined files as one.

i'm also a Ulead user, but i've got their high-end product, MediaStudio Pro, where the default is 5 audio lines, but it's possible to add more if you need/want them.  when i need to edit audio independantly of video, i generally use Audacity, which is freeware like anim8or, but the sound for my films i generally add directly in the video editor program.

I generally use either Video Impression (came free with my digital camera) or Nero Vision Express (came with my DVD burner).  Neither are any good at video manipulation (changing speed, adding effects, etc) but they do allow 2 tracks of audio and you can whack in pretty transition effects and the like.  For video effects I generally work frame by frame in Corel (it can import an AVI and split it into its constituent frames, each able to be worked on with Corel's graphics tools).  For audio I use NCH WavePad, Audacity (like colclough) and Krystal, all free on the web.  WavePad is good for recording (from a synth or whatever), Audacity has excellent sound processing tools, and Krystal has a fantastic interface which closely resembles a proper mixing desk.  Like Lynn22, I prefer to build my audio tracks separate from the video.

Thanks for the advice, I just downloaded a 30 day trial of Ulead Video Studio, I think I might go that way, I want to spend a few more days checkingoit out first.
