Wish I had a pray tool to color  with. I'll try to export in 3ds and play with it in another program.

Bump map
« Reply #1 on: June 02, 2008, 11:49:59 pm »

I used the x,y,z bump map in v.95 - It is something I will never give up. It would be good to have them both in one version. Here is the wire frame.

AHH!  I have to tell you, that is an insanely messy wireframe!!!
You seem to have a decent idea of the form you want, but there's no form to it.  That's why you're getting so many strange creases indents and deformations, it's because of the meshflow.  You want to mainly stick with quads (four-side polygons), you rarely want anything with more or less sides.  This allows for a somewhat grid-like flow.  The flow of the edges is called edge looping.  In your mesh right now, you don't seem to have any.
I HIGHLY HIGHLY encourage you to study up on edge looping.
The subdivision modeling forum has GREAT resources teaching about edge looping:
http://www.subdivisionmodeling.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=e551428b9bc122f62b126525d4b17ec1&f=25
Here's a good explanation:
http://cube.phlatt.net/home/spiraloid/tutorial/modeling.html
And another:

And a beautiful image representing proper edge looping of a face:

Study up on edge looping though.  You've got the idea of form well, and if you focus on edge looping and form your models will GREATLY improve.  I've seen it in many people.  That should be your main focus right now.
Good luck!
