Hi Piotrsofts, welcome to Anim8or.com! I think Anim8or is a great place to start understanding 3d modeling. I got into modeling about two or three years ago. At first I tried Blender. I'm sure you've read about all of it's features and how powerful it is, but my problem was I just couldn't overcome the interface. I then Maya 8 and 3DS Max. I liked Maya better but it seemed like there were too many steps involved in everything Maya does (and that goes for 3DS Max too). Then I found Anim8or. Everything in Anim8or just made sense. The interface is userfriendly, the menus are selfexplainitory, and the Anim8or community is sooo helpful. Steve really did an excellent job designing it. Ofcourse it still does not have all of the builtin tools and features of some of the other highend 3d packages but that's part of what makes it so easy to learn, and you can still get very impressive results with it.
So that's my two cents worth. Also, if you want to be an architect you will probably eventually need to learn AutoCAD or Solidworks. I work with a lot of engineers and they use both. Mainly AutoCAD for 2D building drawings and Solidworks for 3D designs. I think they're both pretty interchangable but they are mainly technical drawing tools, not really good for organic modeling.
Have fun with Anim8or! See ya!!!
