Anim8or Texture problem
« on: July 12, 2008, 03:12:15 am »

Hey guys,
I'm working on a game project with some friends, we are building it from the ground up and I've had to take over the job of objects when someone left... so besides some playing around making appliances and what not in sketchup... I'm new at this. I work with texture maker (great program) and I have Vista 32 bit DUN DUN DUN. Anyway I have a link for a screen I took of the problem
http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll202/ostegodotcom/anim8or.jpg
So essentially I've done the UV tutorial and I have made a few textures to try using the method with the UV tutorial, straight up trying to apply it and I even created a mask of the texture and tried to apply a bump to a solid brown looking color. Needless to say, none of this worked. You can see in the bottom right of the bookshelf that some of the texture was starting to be applied to the object before it decided to just turn it all into one color. If anyone can help me with this situation I would very much appreciate it! :)
PS I did try grouping and ungrouping the object as well as selecting the faces individually, and with the component texture UV I tried x y and z.
Thanks for readin!

Did you make the object by extruding faces from the base? As far as I know, any extruded face will never be textured anything but a solid color. If this is your problem, try making the bookshelf from the outside in by taking a big rectangular prism and using point manipulation to mold it into that shape again.

Thanks for the advice, I just gave your method a try and it worked, I also gave another method that falloffalot referenced in a movie and that worked great too. Thanks a lot!
