well.... i accept for my animations only render times of about 10 or 20 seconds per frame. with shadows, at MOST one minute per frame. AT MOST. there's ALWAYS a workaround to make the desired effect in a faster way. for example, some of my work, i merge with after effects. after effects renders effects much faster then anim8or (or any 3d program for that matter), so if i divide my render in layers and edit and compose everything in after effects, i could have a scene of 30 seconds, rendered out in maybe half an hour, given the average complexity of say, the video above?

anyway, i don't expect you guys ar using your anim8or in combination with a 2d video program, but i suggest you try it out. and be creative. Familyman, your work is getting better as we go. keep going. i'm expecting more from you :D

P.S.: Familyman, what computer do you have? that might explain a lot  :P

i have an AMD64 3700+, 1gb DDR RAM and ASUS motherboard.

Well, i guess it's kind of obvious since Steve is working for nVidia :D

i tried to read the article, by the way. i failed. too much information. not enough brains. didnt compute.

10 hours? WHAT? i thinkt you overpolied your scene dude! you should try to make your scene simpler. for instance, the mountains in the background can be rendered to an image, which you will set as background. nobody will see the difference, but you only had to render the mountains once, with same result as now. also, i hope you made the snowhouse and the connection so detailed using textures? cause it looks like you might have modelled all the carvings (the brick carvings, not the dirt.)

one last note: snow falls in the form of snowflakes, and much faster. these are crystals, thats impossible. just make little white dots falling really fast. thats more like a snowstorm.

otherwise, very very nice animation! nice improvement on your old one, too.

so even if it is cheating, why does it matter? shaebird should decide for himself how he wants to make the model he wants.

i indeed would suggest to follow at least the first two tutorials (eggplant and hand), that way you have the basics to model. after that, find as much images as you can from venom and start modeling.

well what about if you write in that last option, two frames in parallel, and make a switch, so the users with enough memory can turn it on and the rest leaves it off? if it's not too hard, i think this would be a great feature.

i just stumbled across a website with an opensource raytracer. wouldn't it be easier for steve to just take some parts of those codes? or is that against GNU?

http://www.toxicengine.org/links.php

Yeah this raytracer's great, i think the next thing that anim8or needs now is one of them particle generators so you can do proper hair and fire and stuff like that

terranim8or.......

ASL Scripts / simple particle generation?
« on: May 12, 2008, 04:07:02 am »
just occured to me, isnt it possible to use scripts to have tools like the particle plugin from terranim8or work directly in anim8or? then maybe we'd get particle systems in anim8or  :)

i dont want to be annoying, but it's just so much easier when the particles are editable in anim8or :P

guess it isnt possible tough, i guess someone would have made one by now if it was....

@xalener
it doesnt take that long, really! just have your computer render while you go shopping or so :P

and hihosilver, cant wait to see the chess set :D

here's another one with more diamonds.

come on, is nobody using ART to make shiny things? start rendering!

first, explain why you NEED pay to play on your server configuration.

an don't really want to talk about it.

second, this is a bad excuse. sorry, but if you want people to volunteer, you gotta give info. lots of info. like, did your team screw you over, or didn't you organize things well? did you give them enough information? why did they screw you over?

i dont want to force you into talking about traumatic things, but how traumatic can an abandoned project be?

edit: the point is, that we are objective. we dont know your situation. we just want to hear a good reason to join your project. we know nothing about you, or your ex-team. see? its kind of hard to judge you with this little information.

hehe i know that, but try to unzip a .docx file. you'll notice that it is actually a zip-file containing several data files. try it!
