I remember the bar at the bottom left displaying the name of the tool as well as the hot key for it when hovering over tools. It doesn't do that now. I even tried re-downloading it from the main page as well as the build listed in the forum, no dice.

While I don't personally need the hotkeys, I was going to mention it as a useful tool in my tutorial series. Does anyone know how I can get it to pop back up again?

After drawing the anim8or robin the way I see her, of course the next step was to see how she looks in motion. Sooo I just had her do a cute loop to a song I like, enjoy!

General Anim8or Forum / "An8-Chan" side project
« on: November 20, 2016, 05:55:31 pm »
Hey there, everyone! My youtube fans have been wanting me to get back into making an8 tutorials, but I've been hesitant to do it because I wanted to do it with some good fun production value.

An idea that's been floating around in my head is to have the tutorials actually feature a fully animated cute character that just flies in from time to time to give the whole series a more episodic show and pseudo story and not simply a tutorial series.

Of course, if you remember me, you also remember that I specialize in making "anime girls" So I was thinking of translating Steve's Robin into the design of cute and quirky anime girl "An8-Chan".

If you have any suggestions for design elements that you think would work well for the character let me know. Or if you think this idea is just silly weeb trash, feel free to let me know that too.

I started working on bg assets for an HD reboot of an older game of mine, this time to be released on the Wii U.

Here is the original opening landscape:

And here is a mock-up of how it will probably wind-up looking something like in Wii U:

I was commissioned to make a comic, so naturally I did it with 3D models that were made in anim8or, hope you like it!

I may have come a long way in terms of the techniques I use to model, but for the about 8 years I have been coming up with design, my style has stayed essentially the same.

A character I made waaaay back around the time I was thinking of ideas for Bullet Life. It's nice to see an old concept are fully fleshed out into a ready to play with 3D model.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Cute Droid Model
« on: October 06, 2015, 06:51:52 pm »
I wanted to practice making a robotic model, since I usually do organic forms. Like when I did red-proxy, this model has knees and elbows that would work in real life, but unlike ol RP, this model has single joints. Despite that though, these joints can bend nearly 180 degrees!

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Trying out new hair technique
« on: August 11, 2015, 11:02:02 am »
I have determined that UVmapping and texturing hair is a lot of hard work because of how irregularly it is shaped. So I have been working on a method to make hair that looks good, nice, and fun to look at with just the sheer geometry and material properties alone.

I'm hoping running it through a cel-shading shader for my games will help it look even more attractive.

Had a lot of fun challenging myself to do the things like muscle definition and armor indents! I also had to challenge myself to modify my own art style to look try to be a little bit more in the direction of an American anime style.

I find it difficult to animate something that I don't think looks cool. Soooo This is what my proxy model looks like. NOTE: footage is form Maya, but the model was made in anim8or:

Haven't done a male model in a while, I feel like there could be more to do but I'm basically at a block right now. Feel free to make suggestions for improvement, and I'd also like to know what things you think I'm doing well so I now what not to change.

Working on a game, my fans said they wanted something cel-shaded, I'll get to that part when she makes it into Unity. But Based on the way I studied textures from some cel-shaded models I studied from The Spriters Resource, this way of texturing should look very nice if I can get a good outline and single cel shade.
