WIP; My First Person
Modeler_in_the_Myst:
Man, I feel like a first year apprentice tombstone carver showing off his best work in at a trade show with Michelangelo.
It is humbling, let's put it that way.
The torso was done with wire modeling, as was the face, which was built around a an extruded path profile, then mirrored and joined. Except for the teeth and eye brows, which are lifted facets. The legs and arms are extruded facets, the hands are box modeling, using the basics from the tutorial on this site. The shoes are a half dodecahedron primitive, with more wire modeling for the back of the foot, and some lifted faces for the heels. The hair is another dodecahedron primitive, with chunks cut out and some wire modeled 'strands', then whatever you call it when you create another inner surface on a model to add depth.
It's my best work yet, and took me about a day of near constant work.

Well done ! It's a great, cute character.
As for Michelangelo, I don't recall that David was his first attempt at sculpting :D
Modeler_in_the_Myst:
Thank you very much for your kind words.
OMG I just realized I had forgotten to colour in the eyebrows. Well, here is another angle, WITH eye brows.
I have been trying rigging and weight skinning, to no success as of yet. The tutorials and instructions in the manual have availed me none. Can anyone give any tips on that?
lynn22:
Here are a range of tutorials from rigging to animating. Hope it helps.
I'm looking forward to see your character in motion :)

I am impressed mintm. It's a good character, just needs a small refinement where the nose meets the face, and the wrists are a bit crisp where they meet the arms. Maybe the shoe fronts could be a wee bit smaller?
Try this tut. If you do it all conscientiously you will be surprised at your modelling skills!
