Making trees

Hi guys.

I mostly lurk but believe it or not I do use the program as my main modeling tool!
I'm working on some models for a game/webcomic (the comic is coming first) and I'm having the hardest time making convincing looking trees.
This may or may not be the right board to ask, but I'm in dire need of help as lack of any vegetation makes my models look EMPTY.

I want it to be lowpoly and I've seen convincing lowpoly tree models before...but I have't been able to find any resources.
I've had opportunities to purchase premade assets but I absolutely refuse!

On a side note, do you guys know of any places with artists looking for work? Making my own textures can be time consuming and a lot of times aren't consistent with each other. I'd like to hire an artist to make me textures. I'm looking for textures between realistic and cartoony, like an airbrush look of sorts.

Attached is a tree generator that was abandoned and made free by the author.  It will export formats that Anim8or can import.

Install the demo, then copy the patch into the program directory.

I'll just bite the bullet and see what I can do about Turbosquid.

Thanks, kreator, but that would be too high-poly for what I'm looking for.

How low poly are you looking for? You could try 2d outline drawings of trees. I use modeling tool called Caligari Truespace 7.6x; it free and it has a simple freehand line drawing tool to draw out a tree outline. I guess in Anim8or you could do the same thing or try starting out with a simple cylinder and shaping it in to a basic trunk shape and adding edges to make branches from extrusions. I guess it all depends on how much skill you have at improvising your trees?
