Anim8or will not connect points on front image when developing 3d from 2d

Hi.  I am new to Anim8or and I am hoping to make a 3d model from a front and side image of the same.  I have Windows 10 and an Intel HD graphics card.  I have followed the instructions several times but I am unsuccessful in laying down a line of points showing the contours of the model.  I can lay down these points off of the image but not on it when in either front or side views.  What am I doing wrong?  Could it be that I need a better graphics card?

Where are your reference images located within Anim8or?

When I do something similar, I place the reference images much farther away from the origin than the points or objects that I'm creating. E.G. at large minus Z and/or large minus X values so the object I'm working on is in front of the references. That way the reference images don't obstruct my view of the object I'm working on.

Where did you find the instructions that you're following? (What's the URL?)

It tells me to put the side view to one side of the front view so that the two edges are connected.    I should be able to click on features of the face in the front view and correlate this position with where it is on the side view.  But I cannot get the points to register in either view when trying to click on the picture.

Rob: Here a project with 3 orthogonal reference images. I put them on separate locked layers so they won't be selected when modeling, and you can hide them individually by turning off layers 1, 2, or 3.

I found the reference images on the web. They are from MakeHuman.

I added the first few faces of a model. Use the Topographical Knife in the point editor to add to it.

I have used reference images under the Build menu to import a 2d front and side image.  I am trying to add edges to these images in order to create a 3d image using the edge button but this button does not respond.  What am I doing wrong?
