General Anim8or Forum / Devour Project is recruiting!
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:18:53 am »
Alright, a group of friends and I have started up a team for taking on any project we want, be it big or small, complex or not. We're currently needing modellers and animators alike, and decided to open the doors to the anim8or community.
We use anim8or exclusively, and any level of experience is good. Experienced users can both instruct and build on their own, newer ones can start small on simple projects and work their way up, or just dive in head-first.
Post or send me a PM if you're interested.
Thanks!

well, I would benefit greatly from being able to convert from .mdl to .an8, so I'd be happy to test that if you want to write it.

well, try activating grid snap and doing each one seperately. snap should help keep them lined up.

i actually have blender, but I didn't spend much time on it, didn't like the interface. I'll go ahead and try it this way too.

you might could create the object as a 3-D figure, just set the accuracy on the drawing really high and make it the absolute minimum width you can. i'll see if i can get it to work your way though.

opening anim8or up to .mdl files will also enable people to use Moray, and it's plug-ins (i.e. POV-Ray). I tried using a .mdl file in anim8or a while back, it loaded, but came up blank. I tried it a different way, and it just errored and said it couldn't load.

Alright, I've seen a couple of topics talking about being able to use .3ds files in both AutoCAD and Anim8or, and I remember seeing somewhere that there was a plug-in that would allow Anim8or to export or import (hopefully both) .dwg files, which are the standard drawing files for AutoCAD. Now, I have AutoCAD, and take classes for it as well, so you can imagine I'd be interested in this plug-in. Not to mention I'm a bit better in AutoCAD when it comes to modeling (YAY DYNAMIC INPUT). Has anyone seen this plug-in lying around?

a game engine designed to support .an8 files? I think I'm in love! three cheers for you dude! I'd tell my brother, but he'd pee himself and then die of cardiac arrest. Like, almost seriously. We've been trying to design a game for the longest time, and nothing seems to work for us. Anim8or does everything we want it to do, and we're slogging through trying to get it to run with other engines, but with little to no luck. This program would be a God-send! Keep up the awesome work!

The only export option is an UDO wireframe, which anim8or loads, but it doesnt display anything.

alright, I think I can help, I'm new myself, but I'm learning quick, and I think I can do it.
So, which part do you want to start with?

General Anim8or Forum / anim8or can import Moray files?
« on: January 30, 2009, 11:07:32 am »
Okay, i recently found anim8or, but before I used something called Moray. It was pretty buggy, and I never figured out how to make clips and movies and such, but the interface was clean and quick. Now I'm addicted to anim8or, and poor Moray was ignored completely until i started my current project, an AMV to Devour from shinedown. I needed to make two machines, both of them rather complex. I grimaced at the long months I foresaw, until I remembered I already had a figure built almsot exactly like I wanted. In Moray. I tried to import it to anim8or, and it worked, but when it brought it up.... nothing was there, just blank space. Anybody know what's happening?
