Nice work Steve, I'm going to try and make some test renders when I get the time.

The reason I think periodic reloading would be better than a button is so that you could have a small anim8or window in the corner and see updates basically in real-time as you paint in photoshop, without having to stop and switch windows.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Quick Texture Reload Feature?
« on: April 09, 2008, 12:12:59 pm »
Here's a problem I have; when working on a texture in photoshop, every time I save it and want to see the updated texture on my model in Anim8or, I have to trawl through the material editor - surface texture editor - texture selector - delete the existing texture - then load the updated one. Having to do with every couple of minutes or so really slows down work-flow.
So I was wondering if there could be feature which reloads textures either in real-time or periodically or failing that, at least a button on any of the main tool bars which reloaded textures. What do you think Steve?

I agree, Lithunwrap is much better than UVmapper.

I'd really find it useful if you could choose to use the inverse square rule on local lights.

Also, a render-to-texture feature would be good too (I know that one's a lot to ask, but maybe some day?).

You can copy and paste scene elements by opening the an8 file in a text editor and copy/pasting the elements you want (remembering to change their names). It's a bit of a long-cut but it's faster if you want lots of  elements with the same settings.

Here is a good video of Ben Mathis modeling a gun. It's in 3Ds Max but modeling principles are the same with every 3D program so it should be useful.

For your first 3D project, this is very very good. Looking forward to seeing more.

This is good for only your 4th model. Looks like there are some smooth edges that could be made sharper, like the wheel arches. Beveling the edges would probably fix that.

Oh and just one other thing; I'd really like it if there was an option to turn off texture filtering, so that low-res pixel textures can be used without the blur. Cheers if you can do that Steve  :)

So sometimes I write a To Do list in the Project Info window. A while later I go back to work on the project and sometimes I forget that I ever wrote anything there. I was wondering if maybe there could be an option per file which made the Project Info window pop up upon opening the file. Another program I've seen this used in is FL Studio, and I find it really useful when making complex music in that program.

To make the render look more realistic, adding a weak red local light behind him where his shadow is would make it look like some light is passing through his translucent body.

I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I was active here between 2002 and 2004, and occasions since then. Hello to anyone from those days.  :D

Basically, I'm making a 3D version of a piece of 2D pixel art I made a while ago; my own mafia version of Super Mario. So far I've done the head (I've yet to add the glasses and mustache/mouth. ):

And this is what it is based on:
