Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: Artillery Mech WIP

Yes, I know. Thats why I made it 'very clear' that those were just personal 'SUGGESTIONS'.
The only real beef I have with it are the Unseen Polys (Overlapping Shapes).

You know, the whole point of this section is for your works to be 'Critted' to see what others
think or feal about it. If sombody has 'opposing opinions' about a work, thats the whole point of
posting here so, peace bro, make love not flames  :-*

Well i have to say that it does look delicious but there is a reason. You have killer texturing skills and they always treat the eye even to the point of distraction. In my opinion, all you need to do is be able to make somthing like this without all the "unnecessary-overlapping polys" thats the only thing holding it back from being Pro-quality.
My personal opinion on the mech is:
(1) Delete the Hip cages (the Head cages are beutiful, keep them)
(2) Delete all ball and chains
(3) Suggest, maybe that the 2 Non-artillry guns (machine guns on the side) be deleted, as
artillery never has that sort of defence. There are always Strike class or Defender class units
posted with artillry, to keep them safe.

This logic comes from my opinion that Asian culture loves to over-do things, for example.
*Gigantic swords, bigger than the person holding them.
*3-foot tall spiked hair.
*Mechs with huge piles of weaponry they could NEVER hold up.
I personally think all these things are silly; I like realism.
And we have all ruined art before by over-working it, I think you had it good
before many of your extras were put on.
The 3 big guns on top are 'nessissary' because it is an artillery unit and the head
cage was a great touch; but I stress that you rebuke the 3 things I listed at the top of this post.

All that been said, Good work dude!

I would not say the legs need work before I would say that the Grill insert is all wrong.
Dont get angry, its just constructive crit but the grill is a wierd interwoven pattern I have never seen and they are quite thick. Shouldn't they be thin bars that go strait back and forth?

Well not to put too fine a point on it, 3D Joe Wiltshire, but they are plastic or more like a plexiglass alloy.
Well I had the same thoughts the first time I saw the pic but it is actually just poor rendering. There are some subtle textures you cant see like a patchwork rivet pattern over the whole thing. If I put it on some red ground and set the propor lighting, it would look right.

Thanks, it seems you showed me that I need to make a chunk of mars before continuing.

I am creating a 'BIG' batch of building models.
A planetary colonization firm named RE-NEW-HILL.
I will first focus on Mars colonization buildings and if all things go well, maybe expand.
The first one is a small housing unit, wich is almost done. (only a wee bit of texturing left)
This unit is interlockable, you can set down a single unit or lock together blocks of 2-32.
Or 2 blocks of 32 with a municipal hub inbetween. (next to be created)

All the hallways, stairs, plumbing, pipes, wires ect. are housed in the darker blue area and all interlock.
So no matter how many units are hooked together, it all works as one system and every units will be
accessable from the walkways (Ports)

Obviously, we cant build, on this scale, on mars yet because it is too costly
to sent up raw building materials; everything would be made of prefab moduals.
But thats not very fun to make so i will asume that the space elivator has been built
on earth and mars, making it cost effective to build the buildings on mars rather then earth.
This will show on one of my next buildings (medium Housing stack).
As this small housing unit is not a modual but it is a prefab unit the MHS will be nothing of
the sort, very much more building-like.

It can take off from land the fight in orbit. Many hidden gadgets that seal nicely.
