Thanks mills.

I actually had my own way of doing this: i would make an object, 0 everything except a emissive of .1 and white color. I actually used it in an image before.

yeah i was way too broad when i said every, i meant some of the major ones. Also, it really is physX, it says on the site, and it has a free version that you can publish buyable games with, at least, i think so... And i'm thinking about trying blender. At the current time, it's too complex for me, so i use anim8or. And even if I learn it i'll do some touching-up to them in anim8or.

I think anim8or should have a way to define the exact rotation/orientation of an object. It would help a lot for users to easily define rotations.

well, when I earn enough I'm buying it. tell me, do any of those have these?
realtime reflections/refractions/ratracing
in-game mesh editing
PhysX physics engine
3 different programing languages
can make games for any gaming device (Iphone, Ipad, Xbox 360, PS3, Macs, PCs, Wii, DSi, DS, PSP, or basically any other gaming device you can think of)
is compatible with both macs and PCs
'just press play' testing/in game editing

I'm not saying those are bad, but this is for people who are going to make games for a living, not a hobby.

EDIT: also, you pay once, you get all their software, including any future update. you don't have to pay again and you keep the lisence.

wow, great job guys! mills, I was just wondering, how do you add those particles? I have no clue how you do it, and you've used it in an image before, in your 'stained glass window' image. can you say how you made it?

if anyone knows for sure, or if steve would be willing to say, is there any plan for animations/bones being exportable in the future? it would be nice to export OBJ/3DS with animations already attached to the file for use in other programs.

thank you everyone who replied! I am starting to understand anim8or much better than before, but does anim8or export bones? because if it exports the bones I can easily animate it inside this game program, called Unity3d. you can find it at unity3d.com. there is a free version, but the pro version is very expensive ,around $1500.

Just wondering, Is it possible to animate one object by using bones? for example, if you had a large, complex and hard to break up object, is it possible to add bones to it and animate it? I've seen tutorials all over youtube to animate simple objects that are made entirely of spheres and cylinders, but what about if I wanted to make an animation for a video-game character?
