Finished Works and Works in Progress / Salmon
« on: August 10, 2017, 07:08:10 pm »
I've never really tried to work on a fish before, and saw a whole Salmon at the store I work at....I took a picture of it and reworked it into textures and all. So, while I know it's a little rough and blocky (down the road I'll smooth things out) I'm pretty proud of my first "wildlife" model.... I was done by the time I finished the model and only placed a backdrop image on....I need to quit being so lazy.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Maxwell
« on: November 06, 2014, 10:09:55 pm »
I've been talking about my 3D project for a while but haven't really shared anything.

So today I want you to meet the main hero of my 3D project, Maxwell Baguette.  :D
This model was made and rendered today! Does that pearl look familiar? I got help with the material on Anim8or's official material page (chapter 9).

I have two projects. One is an 8-bit text based adventure, DAMNATION: The Show Must Go On! and this one, the 3D one, Beyond A Dream Come True.

I won't go into details yet, but Damnation is a horror/science fiction story and this one is a modern fairytale of sorts.
Maxwell himself has had many developments over the past 6 years! So to show that my model is and probably always will be a WIP, here's a his timeline so far...

Above was the very first model and render. Around 2008. Very stiff looking, I was getting the hang of Anim8or. Steve actually met Maxwell once through an email concerning several things about Anim8or. You'll be amazed...a lot of things Steve is updating as we speak...back then, it was only a dream to have such wonderful updates come to Anim8or. Later I saw there was a forum and now I can come here if I have any issues!

Above, you can see him starting to take his more modern shape...but not quite there. 2009.

I'm a little embarrassed about this one, actually...but it's important to take notes.

This is the same year, 2010, with a few tweaks. I call this one the "post-card render".

And this was for Halloween.

In 2013 he started taking his more current forum.

And at last, we're back to this.

It hasn't been the most educational or entertaining post, but practice makes perfect and I have to say, I'm proud of how far I've come.
As I complete more, I'll be happy to share. And once I have more information on my projects I'll be sure to fill you guys in.

Thanks for viewing. If you have any suggestions, by all means share them. I'm always looking for tips and pointers to make my models better!

General Anim8or Forum / Making trees
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:15:05 am »
Hi guys.

I mostly lurk but believe it or not I do use the program as my main modeling tool!
I'm working on some models for a game/webcomic (the comic is coming first) and I'm having the hardest time making convincing looking trees.
This may or may not be the right board to ask, but I'm in dire need of help as lack of any vegetation makes my models look EMPTY.

I want it to be lowpoly and I've seen convincing lowpoly tree models before...but I have't been able to find any resources.
I've had opportunities to purchase premade assets but I absolutely refuse!

On a side note, do you guys know of any places with artists looking for work? Making my own textures can be time consuming and a lot of times aren't consistent with each other. I'd like to hire an artist to make me textures. I'm looking for textures between realistic and cartoony, like an airbrush look of sorts.

Thanks for your help!

General Anim8or Forum / Rendering with transparent items
« on: May 08, 2014, 03:09:33 pm »
Sorry to be such a bother to everyone lately!

So I'm trying to render images with shadows, but the transparent waves I'm using are rendering such harsh shadows. I DO need them, and I downloaded the newest update that is supposed to lighten on transparent shadows but I still have the same problem.

Maybe there's something in the settings I'm missing?
If you notice in the attachment below, the shadows completely black out the bottom.

General Anim8or Forum / Anim8or and other rendering programs
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:10:58 pm »
Hey there again!

So I was wondering what other rendering programs were compatible with Anim8or?
Something with more effects, lighting, style, etc...

Thanks in advance.

General Anim8or Forum / Anim8or and Windows 8
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:15:25 am »
Hello all.

Is Anim8or compatible with Windows 8? I got a fancy new laptop and want to know...sadly only Windows 8 was available. I need to know so I can continue to run with 8 or download and install Windows 7.

ASL Scripts / Having trouble getting scripts to run...
« on: July 13, 2009, 10:40:22 pm »

I'm having trouble getting scripts to run.
When I save scripts, I go to Notepad and when I save it, I select it to save as "All Files" so I can have the .a8s tag at the end.

I've tried getting the scripts to run in the configure menu as well as trying to get them to run in the script menu. I get the scripts from here, so it must not be the coding.
Any help would be great.

I'm a Windows XP user, and I am using the 0.97d Preview.
