Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Hey Everybody
« on: September 29, 2010, 09:56:01 am »
Hey Everybody, It's been a while since I've been on the forums.
I'm just a little curious. It seems that nothing has changed since I've last been here, and it's been at least close to 2 whole years. What's going on with anim8or. Will V0.98 ever come out?

General Anim8or Forum / Interesting Article on Animation
« on: July 23, 2008, 11:57:54 pm »
I found an interesting article from the New York Times 'Personal Tech' Online Section. You can read it at:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/24/technology/personaltech/24askk-002.html?_r=1&ref=personaltech&oref=slogin
Anim8or is mentioned in it, also a couple of other programs for animation starters. Just some good news to see that anim8or is getting more widely known. :)

General Anim8or Forum / List of lip synchs
« on: June 01, 2008, 10:56:45 pm »
I remember a while back of someone posting a link to a page with all the letters and sounds a mouth can make with pictures of what the mouth would look like at that point. I want to try to start some lip-syching but I need some point of reference. Thanks.

Is it possible to insert time between two keys in scene mode.
Basically what happened is I had a scene where you see a guy walk in and sit down. Now I want to show the room around a bit before he walks in. To do that I would have to add extra time at the beginning of the scene. To add time would be a tedious job of making the scene time longer, copying and pasting all the keys, and making sure they were pasted correctly and evenly.
Does anyone know of any way that I could do that.
If this isn't a feature yet, I would recommend it would be a little handy tool.

General Anim8or Forum / So what is "DVD" quality anways.
« on: May 17, 2008, 10:08:55 pm »

1. I'm working on a big project now, and I need to know: If I want a DVD  qualty movie what are the specifications in which I have to render it in.
I searched online, and found that DVD quality is less that 1000 pixels wide. How is that possible? ???
2. And of course what codec should I use for rendering?
3. Does the codec you use speed up or slow down your render time?
Thanks

General Anim8or Forum / What's the Point of this Rule? ???
« on: May 15, 2008, 11:40:10 pm »
Quote from the Manual

Adding Faces

Once you have added new edges to a mesh, you will be able to fill in the gaps with new faces. You do this by first selecting all of the edges that surround where your new face or faces will go. Then you use the Edit->FillHoles command to fill them.

There are a few things to note before you start adding faces:

    * Faces can only be added to complete connected loops of edges. If there are any gaps, no face will be added.

    * All edges in the loop must not already be part of two (or more) faces. Only edges that are part of at most one face will be considered. You can tell how many edges an edge participates in by its color when selected.

    * You can select a lot of edges and do a fill of the whole batch at once. Anim8or will start by filling any selected edge loops of length 3. Then it will fill those of length 4, etc. until no more faces can be added. This will sometimes create undesirable results and you will have to try again in smaller batches.

    * You may have to apply the Edit->FlipNormals and the Edit->FixNormals commands to orient new faces properly after they are added.

So you may have to delete some faces in your mesh before you can add the new ones you need to add.

This limits your ability to make stuff alot. Why is this rule needed. Is it because of a memory issue with anim8or, or just that's how the system was created? The fact that edges can only be attached to a certain amount of faces limits your control over stuff like complicated buildings, models, charechtars, ect. So what's the point of it.

General Anim8or Forum / AA makes a wierd difference
« on: March 30, 2008, 10:28:40 pm »
Rendered in 0.95 for some reason the rendered one with Anti-aliasing came out very different  than w/out AA
here's with

and w/out

The wall is what I'm wondering about the most. It seems as if it's messed up. It's a texture w/ a bump map.
Thanks.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Torus not recognized
« on: March 30, 2008, 07:07:50 pm »
I had some toruses in a project from 0.95 and when I opened the project in 0.97 and anim8or didn't recognize them even though I still have the torus plugin in the plugins
The toruses are primitive meshes
I'll try it some more w/ 0.95 to 97 and I'll post back later.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Packaging and Sending
« on: March 30, 2008, 03:02:52 pm »
I thought of a new feature that probably (I think) would not be so hard to implement into anim8or.
Packaging. Now I know you can just send the anim8or file, but when you're trying to bring it to another computer, the textures don't come with the anim8or file.
So what I'm saying is under maybe "Render" put an option for "Package" and than it will ask where to save a zip file, and that zip file will contain
1. The actual anim8or file
2. All the textures that the project has
and it will be zipped (compressed) ready to take to another computer or to e-mail to someone.

Another thing I was thinking of is:
When you render there should be an option to Email the rendered picture (only picture b/c some movies are to big or whoever you're sending it to might not have the same codec) as an attachment in an email.
It should open up in the default email client (thunderbird, outlook, Gmail) and be ready to be sent.

That's it for now
Thanks ;D
