hi i just tried anim8or on my vista home premium, it didn't work, so i chose winXP compatibility mode, and ran yay ;D, but then i realized that i have a few of the problems everyone else had. like the box select.

can anyone else not see the viewport text (Front,back,user1...et.)?

screenshot:

AMD duel-core
3 gb ram
NVIDIA graphics

i am unfamiliar with drivers, how do i check/install new ones?
if this has been covered please link to it

thanks

i found that grassgen is useful, but it has many flaws, i have had alot of trouble trying to use it.

heres the easiest way i got it to work:
use defaults as a test-run through including, everything

just do this too:
instead of changing the name in the INI copy and rename the anim8or file

then once your sure it works, change the values, i found that not changing the file name helped for some reason, hope it does for you too

are you looking for just positioning, then grassgen will work (i don't know the link at the moment (sorry)

if you want animation then :
1: scripts are not fully implimented in animation
and
2:i don't know of any other programs that would do it

my computer is being stupid, causing the image to look completely black.
so i copied the image and inverted the colors in MSpaint and it looks good (just my weird way of doing things)
that way, when i get to a different comp i will comment more

this is what MSpaint gave me: (i think it looks quite cool)

EDIT:
saw the real image on another computer and it looks good

the spring plugin adds a primitive to the object edit area if you have anim8or configured properly it should be there, you should go to File>Configure and make sure preload scripts is checked

here is an image of my object mode with all shape plugins highlighted, and the spring plugin highlighted further

when i read the first post i wasn't sure what you were asking, but now i get it.

had i known i would have said: to make bouncing realistic would require a bit of vector math, i don't know the specifics.

i believe steve has put it in pretty good terms

Pov-Ray:http://www.povray.org/
Pov-Ray is a (free!) text based raytracer that can create extremely realistic renderings with true reflections and refractions. it has tons and tons of possibilities.
the downside is it's text based, knowing the language is key.
