Did Steve ever fix the help button in Anim8or to load the CHM help file to load within Anim8or? Sadly, I still mostly fall back of 097 Preview. Is it working in the latest release of A8?

Sounds like I should add a command to do this.

That would be very useful as we edit meshes the axes tend to move around in Anim8or. Thanks Steve, Leroy.

One quick way you can center the pivot is to select all the faces (Ctrl+A) and then detach faces (Shift+d).

A script can also be made. It'd only work on mesh objects though.

A simple script would be nice as my other modeling software has a tool to move the axes to the center of the object, and another one to normalize object rotation back to 0 0 0. What are parameters for working with axes in Anim8or? Thanks.

What happened to version 9? I heard people could upgrade to version 8 quite sometime back and now version 10? Slow down Microsoft!

I've been playing around with Anim8or for years but have always struggled with the axes moving off the object center as I edit them. Can the process of moving the objects axes back to the center be done with an ASL script and how would it done? Thanks, Leroy.

It looks very cool. Any chance you'll eventually release the script?

It's hard to find the problem without a test case. Is there anything different about this file (missing textures, or other parts, etc.)? Also try making a .zip file - that should be a lot smaller.

As far as I know you should be able to make a new folder to add all the files to it and then right click that folder and select Send to> Compressed (zipped) Folder in Windows. Hope that helps? The zip should appear in the same folder where the new folder was created.

I can't find anything that would cause this. Maybe skinning weights for the limbs, but I didn't do any of that for Mega Man X, and it still has this problem.

Also, I don't know how to make a .zip file.

Just a comment that there's some very nice detail in the second image. I really am please that Anim8or is a very cool modeling tool overall.

Without any risk of screwing something up in the Wii U, of course.

I'd rather be able to make models like that myself, I'm just curious.

I seriously doubt it as a lot of 3d models are in some proprietary binary format to prevent unauthorized use by third parties like us. You could do a web search to see if others have found a workaround?

What'd be really cool is integrating a direct link to a paint program for exporting a UV map for painting. I use Truespace and it a dialog box for exporting the map to my favorite paint program. Once I paint and save the map TS auto applies the map back on to the model, of course, Anim8or would first need a basic UV map editor utility present within Anim8or. Maybe down the road Steve could integrate such a feature to make Anim8or more useful. Leroy.

How would I add color to any object, like a ball for instant?  I have searched on Anim8or screen but I cannot find a icon the represent such a function,  Please help?

Your best bet is to work with the user manual in conjunction with Anim8or itself. Learn how to edit simple primitive objects as editing geometry is a major part of learning modeling software like Anim8or. I made the big mistake of not reading the manual and soon got lost. Anim8or is pretty well document, and you can also do forum keyword based searches as well. Leroy.

GIMP is also another free paint program. As I recall it has a plugin for creating textures. Check the GIMP forum for help on using it.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Hmm, how did Anim8or go from 1129 to 1127.
« on: November 18, 2014, 03:44:34 am »
1129 occurred after 1127, and was just a minor fix, which us why it wasn't posted in the development release topic just yet. If it's getting confusing, you can just wait for the ones posted in the development release thread, or wait for the next official stable release.

Thanks. I thought that's what I did originally hence the confusion.

Thanks for your help everyone,  now I do understand!

I know what you mean. I think the default color is like gray. You can also add a texture file if you want.

Was there an issue with 1129 or am I missing something? Love the software but I guess I'm getting lost with all the new releases.
