i am trying to make a megalith(like stonehenge) and i am using cubes for the rocks. i can not think of a way to make the angles less sharp without making each rock hi poly is there any way to do this? ???

i think because the modeling/animation work is done in a mode where the computer "estimates" what it should look like. otherwise whenever you changed anything it would have to render it all to make it perfect and this would take hours to make basic stuff.

well the "black screen" is nothing to worry about its called a debug screen, it basically makes sure that the scripts you have are written properly so that you wont have a problem with them while you are in anim8or so dont worry about that. and as to other tricks this one will probably work better on second thought.

use the "add primitive mesh" tool(shift+M) and then convert it to a subdivided. then go to point edit mode and move around the points it looks very realistic if you do it right here is a render of rocks i made with this technique(it also works with other shapes like spheres and cubes so experiment ;) )

thats very nice i like the transitions between smooth and sharper angles in the eyes and tusk.
