good luck! if you need help the other members of the forum are always ready and willing to supply answers but make sure that you have checked the manual first because some people get mad if you ask a question that is answered there ;)

ya just google "maya personal learning edition download" and you should be able to get a program that works with your book. but i would suggest learning to use anim8or first because it is so mush easier (trust me i have the maya PLE) and also if you have less then 1GB of ram maya runs veeeerrrrry ssssllllllooooowwwwwlllllyyyyy.

also if the texture looks really weird use the "UV" tool to move, rotate, and scale the texture.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: How do you select two objects at once?
« on: June 26, 2008, 10:19:03 pm »
if you right click on an object you will select it without de-selecting another object. also a quicker way is to use the drag-select tool(hotkey="d") to drag out a square and everything in the square will be selected ;) hope it helps good luck!

you can do this without a script just make a cube set the parameters to have 10 divisions on the x and z axii then make the length and width about 100. convert to mesh then in point edit mode drag select the bottom row of points and hit delete then you have your plane
