no problem i always like to help those who are newer. anim8ing is totaly impossible if you just do tutorials because they don't always make sense thats why the community is here ;-)

did you have the sphere selected when you clicked Build<convert to mesh??? if so here is the procedure to make sure you are doing everything correct :)

when you first start up anim8or and the project starts click on the "add sphere" button or do shift+S on your keyboard. then use the mouse to drag out a sphere on the screen. there should be some yellow lines around the sphere those mean that it is not a mesh. then click Build<convert to mesh, the lines should turn white. this means that the sphere is now an editable mesh! good luck i hope to see more posts by you soon :)

i like the USB plug(idk the real name i just think plug sounds good) you should use the antialiasing option on your renders to make them better quality. ;)

if you want to make a wire like that in the future there is an easier way!

start by drawing a curved spline in whatever shape you want the wire to be bent in. then goto: Build>primitives>N-gon set a value of about 60. draw a circle the size you want the diameter of the wire to be. then select the circle and go to: Build>Extrude and for the axis select "path" can use whatever you want on the other settings and then click OK. the final step is to click on the curved spline. you should have a wire like object. remember that if you want it to look better you should manipulate the points on the Z axis before you extrude the circle.

« on: May 15, 2008, 09:42:50 pm »
reference images are outlines of the thing that you are modeling for example i once mad a horse with a ref image. i googled "horse" and chose a drawing of a horse from the side. then i put the picture in anim8or and box modeled from there. they are definitly a useful tool i find it simplest to use them while i am in poit veiw mode(where the faces are transparent but the edges and points are visible). good luck!!

i agree with the other guys the batteries are excellent quality. the ruby; are we seeing it from the top? usualy gems have a more triangular shape(totaly my opinion dont feel any need to agree!) i always make mine look more pointed at the bottom.

did you tell it to extrude in the Y axis? cause it will only "get thick" if you are extruding the Y axis.

actually in scene mode all the seperate objects are merged into one and you can move and rotate them for the scene kind of like you would join solids but when you go back to object mode they will still be just the way you left them.

i think that reference images are a tool that should be used. you could call extruding a face cheating because there are harder ways to do it but its just a time saving tool. i dont use them alot myself but the reason steve put the ability into anim8or is so that people could use it.
