i did the eggplant too. never got around to the bird, though. just took a pre-made figure from a material database. and started rigging it...then the file got CORRUPTED and i lost all my work.

we were all n00bz at one point, so don't feel insulted. i probably should have put newbie instead of n00b.

all too often, it seems like the n00bz never READ THE MANUAL. even i read the manual, and guys aren't supposed to read the instructions before doing stuff.

General Anim8or Forum / LIST OF FACE/HUMAN TUTORIALS (IN PROGRESS)
« on: February 25, 2009, 04:23:14 pm »
If you know of any tutorials, post a link below for the newbies that keep asking for tutorials, so that instead of clogging up the forums with these questions, they can just look at this list. Easier, don't you think?

what version r u using?

By individual faces, do you mean the faces created by the subdivision? If so, you must convert the subdivision to a mesh in order to edit individual faces. Otherwise, you CAN edit the faces of the original mesh.

A subdivision object is not a new mesh, it is a mesh that is "smoothed", if you will, according to a level that you set, while still retaining its original mesh. The original mesh can still be edited, and doing so will alter the subdivision.

The manual can be found here: http://anim8or.com/manual/index.html. It might be able to shed some light on what you're trying to do.

Otherwise, it's pretty good work for a n00b at 3D modeling. I didn't even start with that. It was bullets and breathing green balls for me.

where is the .x exporter script? i've got a friend that's hounding me to help him out on a game he's working on, but he's writing it in either C++ or C# (can't remember) and only using .x files because of their "small size".

i think you may need Terranim8or or some third party program to use effects. if you're using 0.97d, you might be able to use the ART raytracer to some effect, but that would involve making the effect objects.

Tell me what you think!

You can always give it more vertices, go into the figure editor, and attach the whip to a short(ish) bone, then add more bones down the length of the whip (trying to get the ends near the vertices), and doing a multi-bone skin.

Plain and simple, Anim8or won't let you "fill holes" if any of the edges in a would-be face is already part of two faces. Each edge can ONLY be part of TWO faces. Two. Dos.

I had the same problem myself, a while back, when I was working on the short sword tutorial available on CGNation.
