A short video done for a school project. I'm glad to say i can post this under the finished works category. The video and poem were both created by myself, the poem is a found poem, based off page 131 of The Lord of The Flies. The music is Opening- by Linkin Park. Rendering was done with anm8ors ART renderer at 1200x675 without antialiasing and took about 12 hours give or take. the project itself took about 36 hours (not including rendering) spread out over 5 days to go from an idea to the finished product.

It's been awhile.

Unfortunately due to school work i haven't gotten a lot more done on this project (I am still working on it, just slowly.)
however I thought i'd post some concept shots of some terrain and water tests.
Built and textured in sculptris. Rendered in anim8or using ART.

sorry for the wait, I've got another update ready for you, I've got rid of the placeholder building I was using, and have begun construction on the rather large bridge/fortress that is the stage for this particular video, what I'm showing you is 1/3 of the whole thing (like I said, it's rather large). The whole thing probably won't be scene in this particular vid, but I'm hoping to recycle it a bit in future projects.

3D Joe Wiltshire: I didn't know much about texturing before this project either, just kinda forced myself to actually spend some time on it and it turned out ok. I found uvmapper to be extremely useful, the trick seems to be dividing your model up into groups in anim8or, then unwrapping each group separately. Also, I played around with sculptris as well, it seems quite good for texturing, but i haven't got to using it yet. Maybe i will on the building.

Gyperboloid: As far as I remember i don't think i used AA for any of the pics, I go for the quickest render times whenever possible.
As for being from Greece, I'm not, I just like the look of the ancient greek letters (I assume your asking because of my choice of symbols in the title), and thats how the title looks in the original too.

Quick Question, can we use cre8or for physics, or does then animation need to be done in anim8or as well?

Thanks guys, um I'm always a little wary of trying stuff like updating my graphics drivers, what would the best way be to go about doing that?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out, and the problems solved, thanks again for the help!

General Anim8or Forum / Cubemap Issue.
« on: July 30, 2010, 12:01:37 am »
Right, well there's already a topic for this issue but there was no real solution there, and its been dead for awhile, (http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=1069.msg7787#msg7787) So I figured I would Post a new one.

For some reason or other animator can't find the cubemap textures, I've double checked the pathways, they're all correct, I've tried reloading the textures, nothing seems to work. also I've tried in both v0.97d and v0.95, the cubemaps don't work in either. I posted some screenshots of the problem and a render. If anyone has any ideas on this it would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: scene render error
« on: July 28, 2010, 01:15:57 am »
Well, I still haven't found a solution, but thought I'd post my workaround, since others seem to be having the same problem.

Step 1. Do your animation at 32 FPS, and render to JPG files.
Step 2. Open Windows Moviemaker goto Tools -> Options
Step 3. Set Picture duration to 0.125 seconds (the lowest possible)
Step 4. Import your JPG'S
Step 5. Save that as a movie file.
Step 6. Import that movie file.
Step 7. Apply the speed up, double effect twice,

and that should leave you with a video file the same length as you planed, the trick is rendering it at 32 FPS (because of movie makers limited picture duration setting) otherwise the animation won't come out the intended length.
Wish I had a better solution but I hope this helps.

More News! For the most part I've finished the texturing, just some few minor details to fix up, so I thought I'd put it up here to get some of your thoughts on it. Also I thought I'd put up a bit of a teaser image of what the final product (video) is going to be. For those who don't know what "Recovery One" is, it's a machinima mini series made by RoosterTeeth productions, you can watch the original here http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=266. I plan to do a remake in anim8or of the first episode.

Ps.
Couldn't help but comment on this... You don't have 'skills' in 3D modeling. You just practice, practice, practice. Look at tutorials and don't let up. ;)
I could not agree more with that statement! The first model i made was a beaver, that looked more like a blob.

PPs. Since everyone else answered I suppose I will to, I've been using anim8or for about 3 years now, give or take a few months.

Texture news! I've finished my first attempt at texturing, somewhat happy with it but i think I'm going to try to produce something that looks a little cleaner, and a little more like the game.
And I also wanted to thank everyone for their comments! I'm still a long way off from the finished product but I hope you'll all enjoy it when its done.

Alright well, I finished the new helmet and I'm starting to redo the arms. Posted a couple progress renders below, and a quick test render just using regular anim8or material, no UV mapping whatsoever (colour scheme is based off the machinema Red Vs Blue by RoosterTeeth)

Thought I'd post a quick little update on how the new helmets going.
Floyd, thanks for the textures, I should be able to use them as some good reference.

yah Kreator that looks almost exactly like the halo CE wireframe I started working off.
Anyway progress wise I've finished redetailing the body and legs, and I've started rebuilding the helmet and arms.
