Finished Works and Works in Progress / Siesta
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:40:46 pm »
This time of year we can all do with some sun so I created a "warm" scene.  For Australia and New Zealand you'll have to wait for another 6 months to enjoy, sorry  ;)

Take a break and relax for a while.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Chopin
« on: December 25, 2008, 06:19:05 pm »
Yesterday I was listening to Chopin's Nocturne in E flat major, a piece of music I have heard many times before but this time I saw an animation unfold .... so I started to model;

here's the "stage". I still have the characters to do and animate. I think it's going to be nice.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Reflections
« on: November 16, 2008, 08:35:47 am »
Steve you are a genius !! Thank you.

An addition to my museum pieces, a sconce which is supposed to reflect the light from the candle to make a room somewhat brighter.

I couldn't believe it when the render started to appear .... Rembrandt where are you, he would have loved it  :)

The sconce hanging on the wall reflects the curtains, the pole, the ceiling and the plaster mold, fabulous.

General Anim8or Forum / The map that goes bump
« on: November 15, 2008, 07:14:21 pm »
Just finished my engraved teapot. I rendered to see the effect of the bumpmap I use to mimic the engraving which is a plain white background with a black design and I get two for the price of one ;)

The left half of the pattern is engraved the right half is embossed.
Anyone seen this before or has a suggestion/solution ?

Many thanks

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Transparent display stands
« on: November 09, 2008, 02:04:17 pm »
In the Scanline version of my museum I had the objects displayed on cubes and tubes to keep them off the ground.
However, I found the rooms too cluttered. Now, in ART, I have transparent display stands for each object.

What do you think, crits welcome.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / v.97c - 97d, day and night
« on: October 17, 2008, 06:58:29 pm »
With Ray Trace renderer giving such nice results I'm restarting my museum movie from scratch.
While trying out the set-up, keeping it as simple as possible to reduce render times, I rendered the basic scene in V. 97c and then with exactly the same settings in 97d and got a totally different result. The light intensity went from morning (97c) to night (97d)  ;)

I will render in 97c because that's how I like it best but I wonder if anybody knows what might cause this difference ?

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Not so much a bug as a quirk
« on: September 12, 2008, 01:44:09 pm »
While importing into a file a textured object which already existed in the file you get this message if you want to replace the object and replace the textures. Clicking Yes at every question caused this error :

ANIM8OR_97C caused an invalid page fault in
module ANIM8OR_97C.EXE at 0167:0049b3c8.

and the program V 0.97c as well as V 0.95 closed.

Doing exactly the same thing but only clicking Yes to replace the object and No to each of the textures imports and replaces the object with all its textures including new ones without a problem.

So it's not exactly a bug it's merely a matter of paying attention to what we click Yes for :)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Xmas
« on: September 11, 2008, 07:16:31 pm »
There's a lot of animating involved in my Xmas animation so I started early to be finished by December ;)
It's a good thing that it is taking that long for since then I switched from V 0.95 to V 0.97c and what a spectacular change in the rendering with ART.

The first image was made back in July, today I did the second one. Not only are there the additional shadows but also the crispness of the details. Thank you Steve.

General Anim8or Forum / Skeleton bones X Y Z
« on: June 29, 2008, 10:49:58 am »
I made the object and the skeleton and skinned the two together. No problem and all is working fine.

The problem starts with the bone movement.
Example, I set bone 12 (the upper arm) to :
x - free - 0 - 0 - 90
y - left the line blank
z - free - -90 - 0 - 0

In the first screenshot the movement lines show as I expect them.
When the figure is added to the scene then the X movement works as intended but the Z movement does not work nor does bone 12 Z show in the scene list.

Any ideas on how to fix this ?  I'm still in Anim8or 0.95

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Animated book
« on: May 01, 2008, 04:14:27 pm »
As part of my museum project and for next Xmas project I made this animated book.

Starting with a closed book (image 1) in frame 0 over 240 frames, the book cover slowly flips open showing the first page which in turn curls open from the bottom right corner (image 3 is frame 239). Then with some video transition we'll move on to the next scene.  The book will of course be placed in the right background setting.

What's the verdict ?

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Happy Easter
« on: March 22, 2008, 02:51:45 pm »
I just made this small animation about chocolate easter eggs, enjoying themselves then going next door to the swimming pool for a swim and then.....

It's not quite finished yet but when it is and I can keep the file size low I'll put it on my web site.
