General Anim8or Forum / Animation problems

I'm still new to this. When I animate something it will move backwards a little and then in the direction I wanted it to go. I look at the key frame and it will show it in the opposite direction and I didn't do it.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Crash in figure mode
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:10:52 pm »
It happened 3 times and hasn't happened since. When I press the 'f' to focus it would crash and I would get the error message. No I didn't think to save the error message but if it happens again I will.

I had the object zoomed in, did some placing of the object and when I went to press 'f' it crashed.

General Anim8or Forum / Are we pushing the limits of Anim8or?
« on: November 11, 2008, 11:20:08 pm »
Well Steve, see what you have created. You gave us this program and now all we can do is see how far we can take it. I hope we are giving you what you hoped to see. We will always ask for more and I bet you have a long to do list.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Light Rays and neon
« on: November 08, 2008, 02:06:01 pm »
Lets say it's dark out side and there is some fog, you turn on your flashlight and you can see the beam of light going through the fog.

There are some clouds in the sky and the sun shines through them and you can see the rays of light.

What if there was a selection for the lights as to weather you could turn on the rays or just set an attribute for all light to do it in the scene.

Trying to create neon with the right lighting  and shadowing cannot be done with current light selections. It might  be neat to make a light you could add the length and width, but if you had a design you wanted to use as neon that setting wouldn't work. What if you had an emissive attributes in the scene editor and you could select the object you wanted to give off the light. You could set the distance of the glow, brightness(brightness would set how far the light could be seen: Brightness:1[this would only cast lights to a very short distance say like a foot; Brightness:10[this would act as infinite]. Also have a selection of shadow properties for that object.

Well, what else can you call it!

Of course I'll be adding more to it - I would like to add some neon, but not sure how to make the lighting right.

PS You do not have my permission to look at this while on drugs! LOL! Not even for Steve

I have some things that I want to add before I render a AA64. This one was done at AA16. The mountain and water scene was done in Terragen.

I have to turn down the bump map on the floor and the celling looks more like a wall and the graininess will go away when I render at the higher AA64.

Still have a lot of work to do. I'm thinking of putting some spiral stairs in.

I know it isn't an ice cube but it is close

It's all in there but not shadows - couldn't get the shadow intensity to back off not matter if I set it to 10 or 100, it stayed the same; not sure what I'm doing wrong so I didn't use shadows. I also noticed that with shadows turned off(no ray trace) the light goes through the table and shines on the floor. You can see it in the reflection.

AmbientOccluder

glossyreflector
dielectric
AA set to 16(not good enough) - will be re doing it at 64

Took 6 hours and the next render may take 14 to 18 hours we will see!

I have a lot of detail to add and make some changes. This is my second attempt at making a sculpted head. Thanks to some input from those with more practice, this one is a lot better.

Thanks everyone for helping me to become better at what I'm doing.

hihosilver posted some websites for me to learn from - Thanks dude!

Not finished yet. I will try to finish this week.

I used the UV settings in version .95 - Can't live without it!

Thanks to the new Ambient Occluder, this looks like a photograph of something. I guess if I didn't put the front profile off the plane, this would be very real looking.

I used three lights - One with shadows(soft) and the other two to highlight.

Ambient Occluder - Int=1
Lighting Parameters - Scene/Global Intensity = .8/Ambient Intensity = 1

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / What's wrong with my computer

I set the AA to 9 and did a render - Didn't like the out come so I set the AA to 64 and there was little improvement.

I stop the render 1/3 of the way through after 10hrs - wasn't worth the time for just a little better.

If you look at the top of the doors and in other places you will notice rough edges even a little on the lettering(Look at the bottom of 'ni'). I'll try setting my graphics card to default and do another render set to AA 9.

I did a scanline and the edges are fine.

My dirvers are updated just 2 months ago.
