General Anim8or Forum / Re: Material fo human skin. And free models.

i use turbosquid.com if i need a fast model and also upload some. the good thing about the site, if you make a really good model you can sell it, and also if you need a good model or texture you can buy it.

they use .3ds, .lwo, .obj formats, and i never had a prob importing them to Anim8or

:)

I used the online tutorials, and the manual to learn Anim8or they where very direct, and easy to read. but i would pay for a small, well formated book with quality pictures just to have on my desk. i agree, its much easyer to have an actual book in your hands, then haveing to swich between the program, and manual. plus you can mark in a book, and you can remeber exactly where things are. it would not be a very big book, maybe like a "pocket size". but eather way. i don't think we need to have one, but if there was one, i would get it just becouse.

Bone influence, or painted weights is similar to, but different from, IK.  Think of IK in terms of a rope or chain, or for that matter, bones.  IK allows you to grab the end of the rope, chain, string of bones, and have the rest of the geometry "follow" according to pre-determined physical constraints.  For instance, right now in Anim8or, you can articulate bones individually, but you can't move one bone and have it "pull" on the joint of the adjoining bone(s).  With IK, you can.  For instance, you could move a model's hand and have the rest of the arm bones "follow" along.

Wow, i have never seen it put in so few words! good job!

OK so i was doing more particle research and found PhysBAM

This would be very cool if we implement make a particle system like this...

ok, i was working today trying to get OpenGL working with  PERL, but thats too hard to set up if people don't know what they are doing, heck it was giveing me a hard time. so I'm thinking what about JAVA?

Most people already have JAVA set up, and its easy to install, but I'm not so strong in JAVA so it will take longer to do. or should i do it in C++ on the .net framework?

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Anim8or Christmas Card
« on: December 24, 2007, 02:40:29 am »
I forgot to order my Christmas cards this year, so today i decided to open Anim8or and see what i could come up with, well its not very good, but i think Anim8or did the rendering very well, it only took 2 hours at 1175 x 891 px, and it has 10 lights all casting shadows, I submitted it online to my local printer and had my cards printed in 1 hour. so thanks Steve and Anim8or for saving my butt this year, could not have done it without ya!  ;)

I would have uploaded the file if anyone wanted it, but the final size is 110 MB

Yes, unlike ani2pov, the Anim8or to POV-RAY Project will have a very strong animation export for rendering animation in pov-ray, it will take some time to do this, so please be patient with me. and eventually it will have a utility for particle animation, and other animations that anim8or dose not support, as well as physics animation for use with mega-pov

Its still a work in progress, so it might be a couple of months before i release the first version, but for now its mainly just source code.

Hey, sorry guys its taken so long for an update, I have had a little trouble with some of the algorithms. so i have been doing more researching and studying then writing code. but I'm using this time to come up with more ideas for the program. so if you have an idea, or would like to make sure it will have a capability you want, don't hesitate to post it. I'm open to anything and everything right now.

and just for a sum up, the Anim8or to POV_RAY Project will focus more on the scene animation, beyond ani2pov, i also want to use MegaPov to add Physics to animations and scenes.

so feel free to post any comments or ideas about the Anim8or to POV_RAY Project

Thanks,
Nate_Bro
