Thank you Steve, that helps a lot! I'm still new to vector math and normals, but I'm slowly learning :)

i alredy invert them in photoshop, and that works fine, but its just a little thing, it just takes more time to open photoshop and edit it, then just to check an invert box you know? its just an idea.

That sounds great! I'm playing with it in PERL right now, just becouse its way faster for me and it dose not have to be just right for the script to run, but i would like it to be relesed in JAVA.

if you have an IM or e-mail, i would like to talk with you about it.

I'm working on a particle system, but I'm haveing trouble with reflections. I have colision detection, but when the particles need to change direction, my formula is not very good.

all i'm doing now is fliping the axis...

like (4,5) == (-4,5)

Thanks for any help you can provide,

I have been useing Anim8or since 2003, and I am always finding new stuff I didn't know it can do. my question is, what specificly are you looking for? I Know when ever i had a question about something i didn't know how to do, i just asked someone for help. Steve is a great guy, but he is only one person, and Anim8or to my knowledge is not suposed to be like Blender with a "giant community project". but I do think the Anim8or community is a good group of people. I think there will be more Utilities for Anim8or, and even more ASL scripts poping up. anim8or was made to be an Animation modeller, not a renderer. thats why i'm working on a anim8or to pov-ray Utility so an animation can be renderd in a raytracer.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Help - Anim8or Loader
« on: January 05, 2008, 03:23:59 am »
well i played around with Java3D awhile before, and there are some .obj files in one of the sample DIRs, I opend these with Anim8or, and exported them, and they only show up as points, with no edges. i played around with it a little bit, but i stared write'n my own Anim8or Loader in PERL. but i never played around with faces.

I'll have a look and see if i can come up with anything....

General Anim8or Forum / Re: help! how do i make a room.
« on: January 05, 2008, 03:13:58 am »
Its rather easy to do.....

a very simple room would be like so...

Click the cube icon,
drag the mouse in the window till you get the size shape you want,
while the cube is selected, go to MENU->Build->Convert to Mesh,
then select the Point edit icon and wire frame veiw,
Click the face select tool, and select the face of the cube closest to you, and delete it.

go back to the reguare veiw, and there you have a simple room shell.

to add a door/windows, go back into the point edit, and wire frame view.
view your object from the left, and then select the Cut Faces tool,
drag the line from before the top of the room, to just after the bottom,
make two vertical lines, you want to make them the width of the door/window,
then make a horizontal line 1/4 of the way up from the center of the cube all the way across the two lines you just made,
next click the face select icon, and select the face between the lines you just made, it should resemble a doorway.
to make a window do the same thing, only make two horizontal lines insted of one.

it should look like mine here....

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Transparent color swap?
« on: January 05, 2008, 02:47:24 am »
it would be nice to be able to chose what color is transparent, white or black.

i have downloaded trans maps used in other programs that use white as transparent, so i have to invert the colors in photoshop. its not that big of a deal, but it would be nice.  ;)

« on: January 05, 2008, 02:40:21 am »
well i was looking at the file. but it didn't render for me the same, but sounds like the metalic silver color is the An8 default.

but i think it would be easyr for ya if you used UVMapper, there is a link on the An8 resoucre page.
just export your head mesh from an8, to .obj format, open it in  UVMapper, and save the mesh and the .bmp, and import it back into an8.

that way you can draw directly onto the mesh, and not have to worry about anything else.

Hope this helps. :)

ASL Scripts / Re: Drawing Lines
« on: January 05, 2008, 01:04:06 am »
I belive you would have to set the points, then create the faces.

if you want just a line, you can create the points then create edges, but if you want faces, just points and faces should work fine.
