Hey, thanks, thtat helps a lot.

But one more thing:

In scenes, when you put a sequence on a figure, then another sequence a few frames later, the animation is screwed up in the same was as before, but this time on Scene mode.

Again, if you get what I mean.

Well, that has never happened to me...

Just for sure: the sequences shouldn't overlap; "few frames later" should be at least as many frames as the sequence length...

« on: January 24, 2008, 06:01:51 pm »
When finished your work with the first modifier, did you click "Build>Modifiers>Effect Modifier"? If not, there is still the old modifier bound to the object so you can't bind another one...
You have to select the first modifier you used, run the "Effect Modifier" command and then the new modifier should work...

Ok, now I understand...
See "A circle has 720 degrees" chapter of the manual - I think it's exactly what you need, it will help you to make your bones rotate in the right direction...
Good luck

I don't know if you expect any replies to this topic (maybe your post is adressed to Steve??)... Suppose you do:

1.) On Scene mode, the light function is kinda complicated, and I find it actually makes everything darker. However, that might just be me being useless.

2.) Also, on object mode, on 'view', 'preferences', when you turn on Textures it looks great, however when rendered all the colours become really dark. How can I change this?
I don't know exactly what you mean... Just one hint: what you see on the screen when working is not how everything will look once you render an image (or video). The materials, textures, fog, light and more things only display correctly when you render an image; always remember this when setting up the lights and stuff...

Quote from: Link123456
3.) When making sequences, I often find that when for example I move an arm, it goes the wrong way and looks downright strange.
Well... I can't help you with this, there's not enough information...

(...) Anim8or is a truly amazing program
I agree!  ;D

« on: January 22, 2008, 10:09:56 am »
I would try reopenning (reloading) the textures in anim8or;
Open the material settings window for the material with missing textures, open the textures window and delete-load again all the textures that need it...
You can also edit the an8 file in text editor - you can fix the paths of the texture files... Just don't forget to make a copy of your project before edting the an8 file directly...

I haven't found any text turning around a globe in the video you posted link to. Anyway, here's my suggestion how I would bend a text:

- Extrude your text (or fill it...)
- You will get a group of meshes (each letter is one mesh); ungroup the letters
- Select all the letters and click Build>Join solids
- now you can bind and apply the modifier...

When replying, expand "Additional options" menu and then attach the file...
I would try "Help" section on the forum (menu on the top of the page...)

EDIT: Wow, Rudy replied at the same moment, just a few seconds earlier... I'll try to be faster next time ;D

When rotating bones, you can use different mouse buttons for different directions. See this part of the manual
Great video by the way!

General Anim8or Forum / Re: deleting point
« on: January 18, 2008, 10:25:05 am »
I guess you mean something like merging two edges into one... There's no such tool in Anim8or, but you can go around it.
you can move the point you want to remove close to one of the edge endpoints and then use Edit>Merge Points command (first select the points that should be merged)... or you can just delete the point and then add new edge (that's not probably what you want to do...)

Oh, I now I understand... I thought that you mean the lens, now I realised that it's the hole itself you're speaking about... Sorry, my mistake...

Ok, so how to make the hole in cube... I've seen a topic about this a few days ago in General Anim8or Forum; it's a lot of work in Point Edit mode...
Anyway, boolean substraction is probably the easiest way (although it doesn't always work as you want...). My suggestion is to lathe an object (kind of cylinder) exactly in the shape of the hole and use this object for boolean substraction instead of cylinder; you can also use a cylinder with more longitudes (if you doubleclick a cylinder, you can edit number of longitudes/latitudes...)

Wow.... I'd never thought of doing it that way, seems too complicated for me... I thought RudySchneider sent you a file with the lathed mesh in the other thread (??)

Anyway, if you can't/don't want to lathe the mesh, I can't help you, I don't know any other way...

You just have to set a higher number of divisions when lathing... You can't enter a higher number than 32, but it should be enough...

Very nice model by the way, I really like the details.

If you managed to draw and lathe the spline, it probably means that the only problem you have are wrong setings of the spline/lathing options
The only thing I can recommend you is to read the manual carefully... And then keep trying all different shapes and settings until you get what you need. Good luck!

Ok, it seems we have a different problem... Meshes and splines are something very different and it's not possible to use "Convert to mesh" and "Convert to spline" tool. I guess you used some mesh, deleted most of it's points so you had only a few edges left and tried to lathe this; it doesn't work because what you have is still a mesh and it's not possible to cenvert it to spline.
Here it goes step by step what you should do:

1. You must select the "Curved path" tool in Object mode and draw the spline; look at this part of the manual - it gives a full explanation on how to make/edit splines

2. When drawing the spline, remember that the new mesh will be created by rotating the spline around one axis; therefore some points of the spline should be placed directly on the axis. Click here to display "Lathing" chapter in the manual

Hope this helps... Good luck
