I think what makes this a truly stunning piece, is that everything has it's place. I looks functionaly and nothing is out of place.

How many light sources are in your scene?

That's pretty cool!  I like how you stitched it together.  I believe another way to possibly do it could be creating four cameras creating something of a box, or all centralized around a single point.
I like the flash viewer!  Well done with that.

Having the angles keyframed makes it much easier to render because I can render the movie to .jpg files instead of having to do each camera one by one.

Wow! That Flash was neat, the way it moved and the dark colors it's felt very un-nerving. I think you should make a whole bunch of those types of renders going around an old house and make a horror point-and-click.

I'm actually working on a horror scene, not a game mind you, but kind of like a self guided tour.

here's a preview, this room has tile walls for easy cleaning.

here's the viewer. Since it's in flash, I can add clickable doorways and such to navigate the scene:

I tried expirmenting with stitching together a series of anim8or renders to create a panorama effect.

I made a basic scene in anim8or and created a series of keyframes to get images spaced evenly around the room. then I stitched then together in photoshop.

my first attemp didn't do so well. Because 3D renders have no lense distortion, I had straight lines that would bend at the edge of images.

I tried again, artificially adding a fisheye lense effect before stitching the images.

this time it actually looked like a panoramic picture. there's corners in all hte right places, and none where there shouldn't be.

right now I'm working on a more complex scene with materials. I'll try to make a panorama viewer with flash to show it off with.

Hey there guys.
I've been playing with this, and the answer is actually really simple.
Don't replace the objects on the figure, replace the whole figure.

The experiment i did is a bit back to front, but;

I have a file with froyd in it. It  also has  a walk sequence, and a scene, with froyd walking. (added walk sequence).
Its about 200 frames, and froyd is walking and waving his arms around occasionally.

I exported froyd figure, and opened in a new file. Deleted all objects from figure mode, leaving just froyds bones. (rig)

Then i added new objects to the rig, and saved the figure under the same name. (froyd).

Opened up the first file,. and imported the new fig.
Anim8or asks if i want to replace froyd (original) with froyd (new). Click yes, and hey presto, theres the new froyd.

The sequence still works fine, and new froyd is doing everything that the old froyd was doing. Still in scene, walking and waving his arms around, but unrecognizable as the original froyd.

So, its actually that simple.  I think there may be some issues with object names and materials, perhaps i, but nothing has come up this time.

notes: adding the new objects to the original froyd rig.
I added default cylinders and spheres. ie:Figure mode -> select bone -> build -> add cylinder
I added cylinders to arms, legs and neck, and spheres to torso, chest, head, hands and feet. I left the cylinder/sphere settings as default and just clicked ok.  The result was the skinniest of stickmen, and he moves around at 100mph.
So, i should be able to do any animating, (sequences and scene) with this ultra skinny man, and replace him with froyd at a l8er date.
Cool. :)  I'll try it some more.

I knind of experimented like this, I also found that you can use figures under different names, but still have the same sequences work for the new model, handy if you have all of the animations made for one character and need another, similar character with the same animations.

it would be nice to tween the attirutes of a parametric shape, like the length of a spring.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Line Confusion!!!!
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:05:48 pm »
the pink line means that the edge has only one face branching off from it.

if the line were red it would mean that the edge has no faces. a white line means that the edge has 2 faces, the maximum possible.

You can have as many edges branching off from a vertex(the end of a line) as you want.

a good way to share materials would be to make a script that adds them to your project.

i wouldn't mind seeing vector materials so that no matter how close you get it always looks crisp and smooth. maybe .svg format

I don't think it was just you.

I got a strange error whenever i opened an anim8or file with a reference image.
I had onbe file that i couldn't open at all.

the problem did go away though, no idea what it was.
