Hello do this

http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp

Joan of arc tuttorial is industry standard.

The clue in anim8or is hold down the shift key when you first start drawing your first line, otherwise nothing will happen.

Do the tutorial a few times and you will get much better at it.

go here if you run int trouble

http://www.mp3d.info/Anim8ortutorials/

best set of tuts for anim8or around.

Alternatively:

:) :) :)

Make a cylinder of the appropriate dimensions.
Convert to mesh.
Select top and bottom faces (caps)
Indent faces.
Hit bridge command (= button)
Subdivide.
Voila.

Mind you a cylinder is predefined primitif so you should not really use it....

Hello hmm :)

When I've had this problem or similar I always find a light I had forgotten about and find it has volume shadows checked accidently.

Could be related to moire patterns. Could be a weird bumpmap.?

Hello

The eggplant tutorial is hard, !!! I found it very confusing. Made mine upside down. It's time for a new early starter tutorial. I've just made one as far as the modelling but have to add audio. Nothing to say mine is any clearer!!!

As far as modifiers? Forget them at the moment otherwise your woes will just be starting! Belive me, you can spend hours trying to modify something and find no rhyme nor reason in the method. EG no  graphical indications of what way the modifier will bend. Spend the type modifying it by hand and you will be a much better modeller and less frustrated!

PS of course there is rhyme and reason, but after spending several days trying them out I could not discover it :)

BTW I leave out a lot of my vowels to save spce.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Windows Vista Save Glitch
« on: March 08, 2008, 03:04:37 am »
from jan 4

what I do: To save files: when you click the edit>save file as you will be given a small window entitled "Pick a File"

There will be three boxes. The small top left one will list your direcory you are working in. The right one will have "search" greyed out. The bottom one which is the largest  might say 'This Folder is empty". This is where you would expect to save files.

To save a file you have to click on the top left hand box. Then push your keyboard key "end". this will take you to the end of the directory structure. Here you type a backsslash and the full name of your file ....
You could probably get away without the backslash but I'm not sure as this is how you sepearet the name of your file from the directory stucuture.

Your other alternative is to make a file before hand eg a text file and rename it as an an8 file. You might be able to save over this file if  you can find it.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Apply materials
« on: March 02, 2008, 02:37:24 am »
click the uv button after you apply the material

if:

nothing happens then you may have gruoped your mesh (ie you don't see the yellow circle which is the uv manipulator)

else:

if you see the circle move it around and you may find your material magically appears

or:

perhaps your object is a primitif? In that case you can applyh a mtareil but not move it araound with the uvmapper. In that case   convert it to mesh, then apply material and click uv button.

Hello when you are selecting the side faces you are alos selecting the top and bottom faces at the same time (though you cannot see them. Easy way to fix: Go to top view and deselect the top face using the middle button of your mouse. Then go to bottom view and repeat manoeuvre.

Dont forget control z is edit undo :)
